The expression is "still waters run deep" and is used to refer to persons who are outwardly placid yet inwardly thoughtful. No one is calling Sarah Palin placid. They are calling her slow, as in unintelligent. Just thought I'd clear that up.
"Still" waters run deep, not "slow". One thing Mrs. Palin is not is "deep". Many people with talent and education are not qualified for high office. Mrs. Palin may have many gifts and talents. The ability to lead a country as vast and diverse as the United States is not among them. Take a step back and realize that had the Dems chosen a "candidate" as intellectually void as Mrs. Palin the Reps would have used that choice to illustrate poor judgment by the party. And, I would have had to agree. Oh, and do not even try to twist "slow" into an insult toward Mrs. Palin's youngest child. My correction of your quote is just that. Any attempt to place a ?deeper? meaning in the statement is just a Glenn Beckism.

S&H: It's the fanatical followers of Sarah and Hillary that really frightens thinking people. Justifiably so. Neither would have been anything but a disaster if they were in the White House as either president or vice president. That there are a few million Americans who still idolize these two is what needs looking into. It's really a matter of whether or not some American adults are qualified to vote in national elections.

Most Americans knew this right away, (that Sarah Palin was and still is mentally incapable of handling any leadership role for the country). Especially after the Katie Couric interview! Yet, there are people out here still screaming her name, and waiting in line for hours for this woman's autograph on a book that is also based fabricated lies. The Conservative TV & Radio-talking heads can't glorify her and that God awful book of hers enough. But thank you Mark Halperin and John Heilemann for giving America the true facts on Sarah Palin last night on 60 Minutes.
I'm glad to hear two (?) conservative readers say these things. We don't want someone so obviously and grievously unprepared to be president! It would be a catastrophe for everyone. But the Republican Party risks being cloven in two by people like Palin, and Michael Steele. These are ignorant people. No class.
