Dear Luke and parents: I saw your story on 60 minutes and my husband and I were so moved by your story. We are praying for your precious son to recover. God is so good and he has a special plan for Luke and I know that God's plan is right on target even though it may seem as if it just can't be part of His plan for Luke to be so sick. I also believe that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and I believe that you and Luke do so I know that God has something good to come out of this tragic time in your lives. Be assured that we are praying for you all. God Bless

I know what you are going through. My husband was diagnosed with H1N1 on October 18 and is now in a Cincinnati Hospital on a ventilator. He also has bacterial pneumonia. I will be praying for Luke and your family. Please keep me posted of his progression. We are hopeful and prayerful that he will recover if he doesn't contract another infection from the hospital due to the ventilator. Where are those vaccines. They're needed now.

I wonder if you (60 minutes) will be doing a segment on vaccination repercussions in the future? It will become an even larger story than H1N1.

So CBS is in this Big Pharma cartel too? To me it looks like this episode was written and paid by Baxter and others evils. The reporter in this video did not do his homework and asking silly sheep mentality questions. He should ask following questions: why Amish people who never vaccinate themselves or their children dont get autism, cancer, diabetes? Why these vaccines contain mercury, squaline, cancer cells? Why 75 % of the nurses refuse to be vaccinated?

Please check your facts.

I'll answer in the order you asked them:
1) Some Amish actually DO have children vaccinated, and autism surveillance is much lower in this population (healthier diet and exercise probably contribute to less cancer and diabetes).
2) The H1N1 vaccine (not the Flomist)is one of the only vaccines to have contained thimerosol since 2001, which, by the way, has been shown in trial after trial to have no autism-causing effect. Show me 1 body of evidence supporting this wacko theory, and I'll give you 20 in return that demonstrates the contrary (that are actual credible sources).
3) Nurses are not immune to this 21st century anti-vaccine quackery (unfortunately).
Please go educate yourself and stop spreading fear.

amen to that. I'm an RN and most of my nurse friends wouldn't take a vaccine w/ gun to our heads (we see the aftermath!!)

Dr Joe Prendergast in Palo Alto, California has been conducting a lot of test with regards to H1N1. and has had a lot of good results in the prevention of H1N1, by using Vitamin D3. We are not getting enough Vitamin D now a days because of the fear of being in the sun or the lack of time to get enough sun. The sun is the best way to aquire Vitamin D. Please do you own research on Vitamin D and get inform. I?m sure you will be amazed as to what Vitamin D is all about..wishing good health to everyone, Rolando

My wife and I tilted our bed at the end of 1994, raising it by 6 inches at the head end, 7 inches on a US bed, arriving at the angle by observing circulation improvements at the given angle. Since that day we have remained sleepibg on an angle rather than sleeping flat since!

My wife and I contracted infuenza last year, which was a strain that affected all of our friends and family.

This was the first influenza virus that had infected us since 1994! Coughs and colds also were resolved as fast as they arrived when al of our friends and family exhibited the symptoms for days and even weeks, we didn't!

The ancient Egyptians from 4000 years ago slept with their beds tilted by the same angle of five degrees to the horizontal, confirmed by a curator at a Boston Museum who measured their Egyptian bed.

This simple intervention is now known as "inclined bed therapy" or I.B.T. and has been shown to improve the help of many people with serious irriversible medical conditions over 16 years.

Inclined therapy is also practiced by the medical profession for respiratory infections and injury.

Your first line of defence against becoming infected appears to me at least to be a logical step.

Get your bed elevated at the head end as a preventative measure and use it in case of infection as a powerful free non-invasive boost for the immune system.

you need to get your vit D3 above 60-90 to be immune to anything; people who rely on their uneducated doctors usually getting sick in winter because their D3 drops to 20 or less

My husband has been in the hospital for a week now and 5days on ECMO due to the swine flu. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what to do or look out for. All his organs are functioning fine I was just told that his lungs were "damaged". The doc told me that since it is a virus they are only giving him the means to maintain his body so it can fight off the virus but as far as medication goes they cannot give him anything specifically for the H1N1. He has been on a form of Tamiflu. This has been a devistating roller coaster week and I just don't know what to do anymore but pray. We have 2 children a 1yr old and a 2.5 yr old.
My prayers go out to Lukes family and I hope he makes a speedy recovery so he can be with his family and play football. Best wishes and thank you in advance for any advice.

I was told that when my son was on ECMO this was this last line in the sand. It allows there body to heal while doing minimal work. He was on ECMO twice. Once for H1N1 then the staff which spread from his lungs to his bloodstream. At this point all there is to do is pray. ECMO is good and Doctors are good but GOD is great. My 8 year old is now in rehab doing well. W are starting week 7 of our roller coaster. Without prayer I wouldn't have my sanity or son. My prayers go out to Lukes family and yours. If you would like to chat get ahold of Mark Straussman with cbs news he has my cell#. Hugh

I am in a similar situation. My sister was admitted to the hospital last week with flu symptoms. They ruled out H1N1 but she has developed the same issue with her lungs and has been on a ventilator for a week. All other organs are working fine although she is on dialysis to remove a severe amount of fluid from her body. She is 35 years-old with three small children. They are moving her to a hospital with an ECMO machine right now. Has the ECMO been beneficial for your husband? I will keep him in my prayers. Keep praying - it's all we can do.

Get the pneumonia vaccine instead - if you listened to the story, all these kids got bacterial pneumonia; it's the pneumonia you need to worry about.

60 Minutes, you're confusing me!!
I was pretty much pro-vaccine until seeing this 60 Minutes report from the 70s:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk6Qfg6RXOg&feature=PlayList&p=F42DA38140A0606C&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=17

I know it's old info but why wasn't any of the previous controversy mentioned in this report?
