Thank you for the half-hour interview. He's on-target and speaks for many according to his research if he is a man of integrity...I would guess that if he presented himself to playmates (as he is) with a T-shirt and those rainbow colored tennis shoes then, he will present the data collected honestly (only an assumption)

...if he believed he would impress playmates by being quirkie or "down to earth," then he needs a "reality check" just as much as the playmates who believed that if a man's nice shoes correlated with how well he will treat a woman. (I would like to see a statistical correlation between how a man treats a woman with the shoes/watch he wears and the car he drives.) lol

This guy is a TOTAL idiot. The best thing about FOX's election coverage was watching the anchors ignore this guy and his focus groups when they were saying how much they liked or were swayed by Obama. And then to listen to this guy beg for air time by saying that this group was NOT representive of the country was a classic TV train wreck.

I loved this interview segment. It was light but incredibly insightful. You guys covered so much territory. Whether Washington listens to us (the people) or not is subject to much debate. The portion you had on parent-children relationships and the importance of family was very good and I am a firm believer the more active (not nosy) in our children's life; the better the communication will be down the road when they need you the most. Well done Katie and Frank. On the subject of spirituality, I know you both have seen where less people are reliant on religion and God than ever before, especially since the 1960's our society created the 'I' first philosophy instead of 'us or we'. Thank you very much for covering so much and so very well.

I like his ideas about being non partisan. I'm a complete liberal and I'm totally guilty of never looking at the other point of view (why would I? -I think I'm right) but the only reason why I don't is because I can't find an intelligent source of argument from the right... I don't like the tirades of Keith Olbermann either but at least on the left there doesn't seem to be such ignorance on the whole. You end up finding that the sources of right wing, conservative intelligence aren't actually conservative at all. This is why I watch CBS, there's no extreme views from hosts and it seems more inclusive of both sides and yet Katie's consistently getting terrible audience share -this says a lot about where Americans are at, at the moment. One thing I find disturbing about what Luntz said was that people need to bring their children to religious services to connect with them. He's just plain wrong on this. It's not religion that binds a family or a community together, it's the feeling of having a meaning in life, a connection with people and a love for someone. If you're religious then I'm sure that church on sunday fulfills this for you but that's because you have your meaning in life from your belief in a God, your connection with a community and your loved ones around you but it's not solely the religious who can experience this as he makes out. I'm an agnostic (secretly an atheist) and I have my meaning of life in friends and family -not God and I'm perfectly happy like this and even happier knowing that nothing is limiting me from questioning my surroundings and accepting everybody. People need to get away from this idea that turning to religion will save you and the country, it won't. Believe it or not America wasn't built as 'One Nation Under God', it was founded by secularists, atheists and the religious as a place of tolerance and at the moment it's the least tolerant country in the Western World. A good American is one who is tolerant not one who follows a 2,000 year old book word for word and bases their life on it -remember that.

Katie,
Thanks for a great interview. You mentioned that you have never seen the nation so polarized. Please note that the nation did come closer together after the inauguration, as evidenced by the President's job approval above 70% at that time. The high approval rating revealed that approximately 20% of the electorate who did not vote for The President, were willing to give him an opportunity to Govern, with a positive outlook. What has caused a greater divide again, is the aggressive agenda of the administration and their policies. This includes bailouts, corporate takeovers, runaway debt that risks our currency, growing unemployment even with a very questionable expensive Stimulus bill that was passed, and partison governance. Add to this the rush to enact Health Care reform in August prior to having a completed bill, with no one reading the bill, while Democrats belittled and demeaned honest people who went to town halls to protest. In nine short months, the President's job approval is back close to the vote percentage he received in the election, losing those 20% who were once optomistic in their approach to reducing polarization.

On C-Span 'Washington Journel' there seems to be a lot of rude and almost arrogant people calling in to that show. I attribute it to a
lack of spirituality in Many Americans - and I don't mean church...
