In Glen Beck's case. With all the qualities that have made a so called noted opinion maker ...I think he should start all his shows like he did when he went to AA....My name is Glen Beck, I am an alcoholic and this is what I think about this country and those who run it. I'm sorry aren't we the country of second chances? so what if the guy was an ex addict, it was a problem he had it had nothing to do with his thoughts and belief system. His sobriety took him in a direction of self teaching, whether about himself or his country that he obviously believes in. I love all of those who joke about him and say he is a fear mongor. Not so, he takes text and quotes that you can find yourself if you were to look. I started watching him last year to see what all the hubbub was about and I did look up the stuff he spoke of and it was all true, statements, writings etc. Don't be so quick to get on the Olberman, maddow express. Beck points out what the media doesn't want you to see. There is a dangerous underbelly here and i had no clue until I started watching him. I am now more aware and pay more attention to the stories the main stream media talks about. Amazingly, they seem to either downplay or eliminate altogether anything negative if it is to the democrats advantage. Look into the backgrounds of the likes of George Sorrows, Obama buddies of his past etc. HIdden socialist groups etc. We are on a slippery slope in this country and you wouldn't know it if you watch the main stream news shows. Beck isn't as crazy as you might think.
If you were a right winger or, much worse, a teapatier, wouldn't you need to drink, smoke, and do as many other things as possible to forget the stupidity that comes out of YOUR mouth, the stupid things you must do to be accepted by that top 2% - even if you are just pretending to be one of them so you can blend in, "look" rich? Then you go home and have to deal with the fact you aren't rich or aren't as rich as ... or a REAL member of the in-crowd. You're just a fake rightwinger or teapartier - a wannabe. Of course, it is also a good excuse to hate anyone in the entire USA who isn't exactly like them - white, male, extremely well educated by the best schools and not a drop of common sense in your entire cranium, greedy-rich or pretend greedy-rich. Baggage they're carrying around? Of course most of them are drunks and/or druggies. How else could they possibly live with themselves?
Interesting that Beck wouldn't explain what he means by "white culture". Perhaps the term is a synonym for "aryan culture"? Or perhaps for "Confederate culture". lynch-party postcards and "get to the back of the bus, boy"?
Listen and research the facts for yourself. Stop the name calling and look at this like adults. If Mr Beck causes you to look at the issues and think about them then he has done a good job. Be a thinker not a follower... that goes for both sides. Have respectful debates on the issues and learn from each other. This country can only survive somewhere in the middle... it is a balancing act that is trying to lean way too far to one side at the moment.
