- This is how I see republicans, no empathy for others, and only stand behind decisions that benefit themselves. For the first time in this bigots life, he saw his bigotry hurts his family. Where was this empathy before? While I am thrilled he now understands that gay marriage has no effect on our straight marriages, I can not be so quick to forgive his bigotry. Will he continue to be racist until his son turns out to be black?

- Just a thought, did the Honorable Senator Portman just break his oath of office? When he was sworn in, he agreed to serve the interest of all the people of Ohio and not just a few, not even his own family and son. In saying that he has placed the well being of his son above the well being of all other of the good people of Ohio, is that not a bit more than hypocrisy? Did not every gay man or lesbian woman or whoever who is a citizen of Ohio deserve his consideration as if they were a child of his? To go so long condemning all these people and overnight give preferential treatment to his son, I do believe that begs to have an answer and if the good Senator does not serve the good of all the people of Ohio, as his oath requires, the exit may be the next step for might just be the honorable exit from the Senate. Just a thought.
