Wow. Who the heck writes your headlines & titles? "Rebel nun??" I saw this segment on air and came to the site to share it with others, only to be absolutely stunned that you would label Sister Deacon this way. Especially since she took the time to explain the differences between Diocesan and congregational priests - she distinctly said marriage would not work for all. I am not Catholic, but I know that members of LCWR are doing some of the Church's most effective hands-on work with people in need across the country and around the world. The fact that they are willing to concede that some change is needed in the Church earns them appreciation and respect, which is more than you have given them here. Perhaps CBS should consider a longer piece to understand the realities of life for Catholic Sisters in America today, because this shows that you just don't get it.

The title of this segment is inflammatory and sensational, which I suppose is how news is structured to keep viewers attention. Sister Deacon was most respectful and courteous in light of attempts to misrepresent the LCWR's goals. As she stated in the interview women are the face of the local church and the sisters just want some representation beyond that level. So, no rebel nun and no talk of female priests. Please listen to what Sister Deacon said and not what you want her to say for ratings. I continue to pray for the LCWR and the Catholic Church.
