I have worked in the Dept. Corrections for 10 yrs as an MD. I Noticed the differential prison sentences and I felt for all intents and purposes Our Country still has in 21st centuary : rules akin to : different tap waters One for whites and a separate one for blacks. We need another Rosa Park today to remove this differential sentences of black youth. All human beings need to be treated with equanimity be they : Blacks , Whites, women, Jews , Muslims , Christians or any other race or religion. Then and only then we have modernity in Humanity otherwise it is still BARBARITY in HUMANITY. How can we claim to be following Jesus or Moses or Mohammad when we still tolerate such unjust Laws. Differential duration of punishment for Crack Cocaine( solid form- mainly sold by African Americans) and Cocaine powder forms- mainly sold by Caucasians.. The difference in penalty sometimes of a decade more in Prison for the blacks, When the Chemical is the same and the difference on the body is hardly of any significance. This doling out of differential Penalty , Is It not similar to different tap waters for different ethnicity.? It is about time to stop such racial discrimination Once for All. Then only we can claim to be true followers of our Beloved Jesus. He taught compassion for all Humanity.Just carrying the cross in the neck or calling out LORD ,Lord, God or Allah does not makes us worthy humans or even worthy of Salvation. Salvation comes from just and Compassionate service to His Creation. And The best of His Creation is A HUMAN BEING. So all those with a conscious must voice this and stop this unjust Punishment doled out to young men. It is not one young African American that gets affected , but this also causes the wife/ girlfriend and young children to suffer for that longer period, that the man is in Jail. How can we, as Americans be quiet spectators of the unjust suffering doled out to a child only because the skin is richer in Melanin.?
