Good grief, Judy and Chefrosa, do you have no sense of humor?! It was a joke - and I found it hilarious, despite I'm not much of a drinker. Are you the PC police?!
Judith...well said!!! I have to tell you that my sisters and I were supposed to be on this cruise. My sisters and I booked this cruise months ago because there was a freestyle concert playing on board. However, the concert was cancelled so we decided to cancel our cruise. We were flying from New York to Galveston. I cannot begin to express how shocked i was to have heard this. I was stuck out on sea when Hurricane Sandy hit...i was on Carnival Dream. I couldn't imagine being on another ship with another disaster. Im glad that Carnival is stepping up to make things better for the passengers on board. Like you, I felt that the comment made my Norah was uncalled for.
To Norah O'Donnell, I love your show and I think you're great but, because of that, felt compelled to write. Your last comment on this story was "Is there an open bar?" As someone whose life and family has been negatively affected by the belief that most Americans carry; -that after a stressful event, the best solution is to find the closest open bar to make everything okay.
For those who can handle a drink, perhaps, but for those who can't and shouldn't, it only furthers the belief for anyone watching, including children and college students, the dangerous belief that alcohol is a harmless answer to ease our stress and solve our problems.
