I'm really confused here. How can you convict someone of 1st degree when there is ZERO physical evidence to link Eric to the murder other than "gut feeling"? I was surprised they didn't even look for a weapon. No background check on whether he purchased that gun, had owned that caliber gun or even if he even had guns EVER. He was convicted based on his character and NOTHING based on evidence.

The parents shouldn't have been giving money out like that in the first place..do it once and they will keep expecting it for the rest of their lives. He has a very high motive but I think they needed to expand the horizon for anther suspect. Investigate the death threats the neighbor received.. Something sticks out there for me. When a hit man is hired, he is usually given a DESCRIPTION of his target, don't you think? I'm pretty sure if I was hired to kill a banker, and I entered a house and ended up shooting a man and wife older then the guy I intended to kill, that it was a mistake. I think its just a coincidence that the neighbor received death threats.. The son has a lot against him in their case and the stupidity of the checks and such aren't looking so good for him.. even if he isn't guilty, he comes across it as very hard and seems to be a well trained liar... somebody probably beat him to the deed.

I would like to know why he was convicted because of the check and the lies..? why didn't anyone examine the clothes he was wearing that day for blood splatters? I'm pretty sure if the son shot his parents in the head; there would be BLOOD SPLATTERS!! WHERE WAS THE EVIDENCE OF BLOOD, HAIR, DNA, FINGERPRINTS..? why is it that when there is no one to point the finger, you turn and get someone on a check and a written hand note? WHERE IS THE EXAMINATION OF CLOTHING THAT MAY HAVE BLOOD ON THEM??

Did they have the second video at Shopco ? BIG Problem no grout evidence . That is reasonable doubt . He is guilty of being broke. They proved he lied but they did not prove he killed Was Eric finger prints on the drawers?

I always read through the comments and have never posted my own until now...please keep in mind im not stating my opinion as fact...just my opinion. There are many things in this 1hr long show that say to me he is innocent and what happened to reasonable doubt. Do jurors know what this is? obviously i wasnt sitting in the court room for hours of testimony and hearing "the whole" case. But with what was shown to me in the little time we all had to watch, i would imagine they were trying to show he was guilty which again to me they did not. The 3 biggest things that show reasonable doubt to me are 1...neighbors getting death threats and you google their house and its the same people who just got shot! thats huge! 2...they didnt really talk about the gun that much other than what they were killed with, was it the parents gun? was a .22 ever register under the defendants name? did he own one or borrow one from a friend? 3...i am a construction worker and have done many tile jobs. there is no way in the world you can do a job for 8 hours of laying and grouting tile and not leave any evidence in a house even if you just walked in the front door and out the back right away...let alone shooting someone and waiting for another to return. all of these things lead me to believe he is innocent...again my opinion and to me very sad that i believe an innocent man..once again will rot in prison. i cant believe that he was intelligent enough to clean up his mess and make it look like a "robbery" with the drawers and stupid enough to cash a check the next day. its either one or the other. Im not saying it the sister at all...although she is just as guilty as he was...he was convicted on the the stupid things he did after the murder not on any sort of evidence. If one can get convicted on stupidity we would all be in prison for murder.

You forget one thing there was 60 thousand Dollars worth of gold coins right upstairs why would he not take em? Instead he cashes a check To me the check being cashed shows he is innocent, He had no clue his dad and Mom were killed if he did he would have never cashed the check Would You ? And your right not one speck of grout anywhere? What did he walk in wearing a garbage bag from head to toe? Big reasonable doubt NO grout dust. No gun evidence, Eric's Lawyers were horrible. Was there finger prints on the check book?

That was very strange that you didn't hear one word about where the murder weapon was. How can you you convict someone on 1st degree murder for that HUGE lack of evidence. I feel like I'm missing details here.

It's crazy when you can't even trust your own family not to do you any harm. I've told my children, the moment you raise your voice or your hand to me I'm punching you in the throat and breaking your wrists. Money is not that important that you have to kill your parents who have had your back all your life. Parents like this need to use tough love sooner. His dad obviously had enough and this dude used them as his own personal money train. It's a slap in the face to his parents legacy and their love for him. He should be ashamed of himself.

I so agree with you and I know that's right @ breaking wrists and the "throat chop":):)...but, honestly, it really bothers me when people say "there's no evidence". It comes a time when we must use our common sense and draw conclusions...circumstantial evidence is EVIDENCE!.

I believe that this spoiled brat killed his Mom and Dad...they say all the evidence is circumstantial...but all I think of was the fact that he said that he went to two Shopkos to buy a plant for his wife. To me, that set up a lot of suspicion because I don't think any man would spend the extra time and gas money to go clear over to another store just to buy a plant. NOTHING against men...it just doesn't make sense to do that. What other kind of plant was he looking for that he thought that the other store would have that the first one didn't?

It does seem suspicious to me, that they did not get into the sister and son in laws activities in more depth. They said the x-box provided an alibi for the son in law. How can they be sure it was him? Couldn't he have let the killer in earlier to wait for the victims to get home? Granted, you cannot give us more depth in the time allotted for this program, but there are avenues to be explored before anyone can make a decision on the merits of a guilty verdict. We all know that prosecutors tend to get "tunnel vision" when it comes to their theories of how the crime occurred. The lack of forensic evidence, too is troubling. Having been around people doing grouting work, I know that there would have been grouting on his clothes, shoes, hands, hair, and so on, grouting and sanding are messy chores. I could add more questions, but I am sure most people will get my drift.
