It's really refreshing to read that everyone is so level headed !!!! Every single response here recognizes that the root of the problem is not guns, but people. And where is the worst problem? Cities...minorities...strict anti-gun laws. And yet the media and the gubmint think they can steer the dialogue away from obvious realities.

It's a leadership problem that points to Rahm.. he is the solver, he is the problem. If he doesn't do anything, the problem exists... Rahm is nothing more than blabber.... and let's kids die in the streets of Chicago. He is making token gestures but not solving the problems... Rahm has shown he is all mouth... no substance... let tragedies make PR ops.. right, Rahm?????

Neither Chicago nor the nation has a gun problem. Both have a leadership problem. We continue to allow these people to insult our intelligence. It's our problem to solve.

No it doesn't. It highlights a group of people who operate outside the law and need to be caught and locked away for life, or exterminated. People like this girl have the right to live their lives without incorrigible animals loose on the streets killing each other and innocent bystanders.

This is not a gun problem. It is a people problem. Chicago has some of the toughest laws on the books and they have one of the highest murder rates. Now tell me we need more laws on the books. We need to stop the insanity by holding people accountable for their actions versus giving them slaps on the wrist.I am very sorry about the girl and pray for her and her family.

Tragic. Poor thing.

The headline though, is wrong. It should read "Teen's murder highlights Chicago's murder problem"

Not "Teen's murder highlights Chicago's gun problem"

I agree. Chicago has a serious problem with rampant criminals running loose. They should look at passing laws that will keep criminals in jail instead of the ridiculous sterile magic beans this headline is fishing for.
