He was under duress. What does a teenager do after hours of being under duress? He certainly isn't capable of defending himself against manipulation, coercion and more. I want to know how does a mother get her son on 48 hours? In the hopes to get him out of prison and back home where he belongs, just like the teen in this news video clip. I am a mother who is trying to save her son who has been living in prison since age 15. 4brycesbattle. bryce seton vandergrift God Bless our children

I voted for Anita Alvarez as Cook County States Attorney; that's a mistake I won't make again! Alvarez's horrifying statements in Byron Pitts' story demonstrate clearly that she doesn't understand her job's objective is JUSTICE, not convictions. Happily, Illinois now requires videotaping of (most, though probably not all) interrogations in felony cases, a reform suggested by a task force on which Barack Obama served when he was a state senator. So it won't be quite so easy in the future for a Jon Burge or some other CPD bully to browbeat (literally and figuratively) teenagers into confessing to crimes they didn't commit. But ALL prosecutors need to grasp that citizens rely on them to convict the perpetrator -- not simply to convict somebody, whether they're guilty or not!

Prosecutor can't believe DNA? She cannot believe the innocent proven by DNA. A rapist DNA vs. 17 year old why does the prosecutor still have doubts?

I think Annita R should have declined speaking instead of embarrassing herself with such ridiculous responses. this concept of false confessions is not new and sadly many people are wrongfully convicted on forced coerced confessions. Confessions are not much better than eye witness testimony if the tactics to obtain them are skewed. I believe there should be a time limit and all should be videotaped!!! as part as evidence. Then perhaps police will remain accountable.

My son is currently in prison at Pinckneyville Il for 25 years for a crime he did not commit. I entered a pardon in 2009 which is waiting for the governors signature. He was 16 at the time, the youngest boy in Menards State penetiary. Now a 16 year old cannot be tried as an adult. I feel all the people that were 16 or less and currently in prison should be released. Ex Post facto should apply for all the inmates.
