This guy is trash. But it goes to show, had the airlines had security he would never have escaped. Those were the days, of course, before 911. Also, I can't help wondering if punks like that could be bluffed. Of course if I were one of the passengers I might think differently. Still, one can't help wondering if airport police had taken the Clint Eastwood approach: "Go ahead. Kill people. But you'll get the death sentence and the women with you will die, either by the state or in exchanged gunfire." Something like that might have worked. Think of it: if the perps knew the government would never compromise, would never deliver the money, and would not respond to requests, turn off the a/c, etc. what choice would they have? Again, I know, if I were a passenger, or a relative, would I think/say the same.
One more point: the focus was on Wright; but what about the guy who actually shot the man and maybe beat him. How can someone like that be paroled after just 15 years? It doesn't make sense. Why is all the focus on Wright when the family should have fought parole of this other perp, the actual killer? Maybe they did, but they were ignored.
Maybe he'll get a job at a gas station in the country he now hides in and some worthless piece of DNA will kill him and bring his worthless DNA to an end.
Now this a perfect example of the scales of justice being tilted in the opposite direction. In this case it happened to be a black man, which is rare. The last time that happened was with O.J. Simpson. Murder is wrong in any case or race. But before you spotlight this one case as a monumental disruption of justice, take a look at the men, especially black men that are being released after ten plus years of unjust convictions. After all, it was CBS who air it. In conclusion, A man beat the system before the system could beat him. Two men enter, one man leave. Justice against Justice! REMINDER: Should we talk about the much celebrated D.B.Cooper who parachuted out of the plane with millions & never got caught? Hmmmm! Pull the plugs on the spotlight!
For one thing . I don't think it was millions. Maybe a couple of hundred thousands. You can always replace money not a life you.
Some insurance company probably did in this case. Coopers crime didn't involve the loss of an innocent victim's life. This criminal was part of a robbery that resulted in a murder ...a loss of a human life. There can be no comparison. D.B. Cooper probably died of his own stupidity not luck like this idiot has survived on. He's a worthless human being.
Your "reparations" are on their way from your DESCENDANTS of the United States, and about that STATUTE of limitations - there isn't one for murder. If he was a white man who murdered your father, good lord, the outcry! No one would ever hear the end of it. Wright is a coward and a murderer and he needs to face the consequences of his actions. Poor you... Perhaps you should move to Wright's continent and live the good life with him, away from all the nasty "protection" of the US. (Buy a dictionary on your way out of the US, also, or listen and look at your spell check.)
Forget any race, a criminal is a criminal. This George Wright (who care of his color of face) need to pay what he did. God will forgive him until justice is made.
Race has nothing to do with this, nor does slavery. This man committed a crime and should pay his time. It does not matter if he was black, white, asian, or hispanic. Do you think his family cared? Good for Mr. Wright? What an ignorant, racist, and narrow minded person you are. Move on and stop blaming the past for something like this. It doesn't matter what color the petson killed or the killer was, but who did it and them being punished.
People forget the other person involved in the crime, who actually shot the victim, did his time in prison and has long since been paroled. Wright could have done the same thing and had long since been released and gone on with his life. He blew it every step of the way. Unfortunately, he's never going to be brought to justice.
That is pathetic that this criminal can't be brought to justice. I hope they catch him eventually but if not that he will never be able to leave peacefully. He blames his own crimes on society? What an irresponsible piece of garbage.
The U.S. government can use extraordinary rendition to get terrorists...why not use the same tactics to apprehend or punish escaped criminals...I mean hijacking a plane technically makes Wright a terrorist anyway. I think the Patterson family deserves some justice...pull your ambassadors from Portugal.
Ugh and McGee, not apologetic...disgusting filth. Clearly, as can be seen by the grief of Mr. Patterson's granddaughters, the loss of a loved one to violent crime can devastate a family for generations...so many lost relationships.
