This is a sad story it sounds to me like this was a great dumping ground for so many different killers.

It was awful when he said surprisingly it was an American. That sucks I'm American but we do have more serial killers than we need. Yuck

If you look it up, they have their share in Canada, but the US is worse. Think about how many more people we have here and the media, it isn't surprising.

They should set up lights along the road, and also some kind of cameras.

That's a lot of lights: Prince George to Prince Rupert is 722 kms or 433 miles.

Have Police Check Truck Stops along road. Setup Bus stops along route free for hikers. Place more warning signs of possible dangers along route. Setup legal public cameras at sites were
hikers are known to stand for a ride. Display legal Photos of
missing persons along route. Light poles, along route should have
alarm button with emergency two-way call. Rest areas should be
considered along the route for hikers, including full out-door phone booths with security protection, and bus stop. Plenty of You-are-here maps. Use solar power lighting along route. Have
police perform undercover operations, like posing as hikers.
If Possible place wireless phone booths along route. Landscape the sides of roads to make seaching easier for police and volunteers. Have police along the route offer rides to hikers to promote public safety.

That "best friend" Jordi may not be responsible for Maddy's disappearance, but she is clearly a despicable person. She was trying to be coy and cute throughout the interview and showed absolutely no reverance or sadness for her poor friend. When she bragged about "aceing the polygraph", I wanted to vomit. Terrible.

People react very differently to stressful situations. It is impossible to know what Jordi's reaction means unless you know and have seen her in other circumstances similar to this one.

Clearly, you dont know Jordi. Clearly you dont realize this was edited a certain way. This has been a terrifying situation for all involved, and having you, sitting safe in your home, calling someone i doubt you know, despicable, clearly is a sign of your character. She has been through hell and the truth will come, leaving you to live with your hurtful comments against a brave girl who wants her friend found as bad as anyone else.

Yesssss I found that comment pretty creepy as well! Inappropriate & extremely insensitive.

I also think that they should have omitted that comment because yes, Jodi has gone through hell & people do react differently in situations. It just didn't come out sounding so good.

I am not trying to be mean but to me it seems Jordi is not to concerned over her best friend. I'm sorry friends and especially best friends do not let their friends down. It just seems when I listen to Jordi it's like oh I aced it like if she was more worried about herself. Maybe I have it all wrong but its weird. God be with mandy and her parents.

I thought with summer over the reruns of cases was going to end. This is another rerun as well as the one coming up on 11/24. There are enough intersting fresh cases that 48 Hours could be investigating or profiling that they should not have to reguritate old ones. Very Boring!!

Someone might know something somewhere. If it was your daughter, sister or mother who would have been killed, would you still thing it was very boring. Death and murders are not always just entertainment!!!

What do you mean a "rerun"? I don't think 48 hours has done this before. Please share what you mean if they or some other news channel has tackled this tragic story.

My wife and I continue to be haunted by your "Highway of Tears" episode. Our hearts go out to the parents of Maddie and those of the other victims.

I'm sure Maddie's friend Jordi and her boyfriend--the last to see her that night--must be racked with guilt. It would be a valuable public service if Jordi and her boyfriend could tour local high schools or other youth venues and tell their story to drive home to all students that real friends should NEVER, EVER leave a friend alone in a potentially dangerous situation no matter how brave or capable they claim to be. I think Jordi and her boyfriend could relate to teenagers unlike parents or other adult authority figures could. They could impress upon their audiences that there should be a code among friends much like the Three Musketeers' "One for all and all for one" or "I've got your back" or "Leave no one behind". Jordi's and her boyfriend's failure to their friend was tragic. It will haunt them the rest of their lives. Telling their story may assuage some of that guilt if they knew it could possibly save another precious young life.

Could not disagree more! Her friend told her they were leaving,, Maddy was old enough to make her own decisions... these were not highschool kids. I think the fault is just as much Maddys for staying there,, she is just as much to blame, and it cost her, and her family. I think her friend has been treated unfairly.

I am not saying i agree or disagree with your comment but Maddy's boyfriend would be unable to do that because about 6 months after Maddy's disappearance her boyfriend was killed (tortuered, beat and his head was chooped off). They only found his head and are looking for the rest of his body. So i think you should be a little more considerate about her boyfriend!

To KKTHEBANANA24816, when NICKINGLENDALECA refers to Jordi and her boyfriend, I am pretty sure he is referring to Jordi's boyfriend. Not Maddies boyfriend. Duh.

six1seven says:
Many of the girls who have disappeared over the years were walking/hitchhiking along highway 16. This means the opportunistic killer(s) likely drives the route with some frequency and that the abductions were spontaneous. Maddy's abduction is different b/c she was at a party and would not have been observed from the highway-it seems much more likely that someone with some affiliation to the party is involved and not some serial killer.
