- My favorite part of this story is the mentor student relationship between Felix and Joseph Kittinger. Felix's comment about one day helping a young guy break his record in his old age was heartwarming.

- An explanation please. I am under the impression that terminal velocity is approx 120 mph. How then is it possible to exceed 800 mph? Is it lack of atmospheric friction?

- You are correct. Terminal velocity results when the upward force from air resistance matches the downward force of gravity. As high as Felix was, there was very little air and thus very little air resistance to slow his falling acceleration.
