This is hard to watch. Tom reminds me of my dad, who is also passed away. But they just seemed likesuch great people.
What they went through was horrifying. I can't imagine the fear these people felt.

The criminals were so stupid to think their plan would have actually worked.Like, did they think no one would question the people missing and these random stranger suddenly getting everything they own? All for money because theyre too lazy to work. These are disgusting sub-human beings. Stealing from hard working people is one thing, but taking 2 lives just because you want to steal from them? Horrific.

Because of the way you write and repeat your message, I place you in a similar category as Skylar Deleon.

...It's hard to get into people's minds, but nobody had questioned the victims' naivete in allowing 2 extra strangers to accommodate the buyer aboard their yacht; and more importantly, to do so without any up front deposit, or show of money or cashier's check. Additionally, I question the wisdom of cruising into the open ocean, when just a brief trek in Newport Beach harbor would have been sufficient in verifying the mechanical integrity of the boat. This is not hindsight, just practical reality.

Very good point. One I have often considered. What is more confusing to me is that Tom, as an experienced law enforcement officer with a brother who was the Chief of Police of Carlsbad, CA , and a FBI academy graduate would have even thought a punk like Skylar and a dimwit like Alonso, and their "accountant" a Crips banger like JFK were remotely legit? He and Jackie were way too sold on the belief that if they have a toddler, they must be saints. As for Skylar;s story about wanting a test cruise of the boat, Skylar claimed he needed to get way out of Newport Harbor so he could dive below in clear water to verify the integrity of the hull. Thus they drove way out of the harbor to clearer water where Skylar dove below, and the plot unfolded minutes later with Tom in the stateroom. Very clever that Skylar. Not too smart, but clever.

In addition, there was a book written about this UNSPEAKABLE CRIME... It was written by a remarkable true crime writer, Caitlin Rother... title:
DEAD RECKONING.... Warning: It is graphic and unforgettable.

So difficult to watch. How horrific. May God bless Tom and Jackie and their families. I only hope that thier sons will instill the same values and love of life and the sea to their children. May they find some solace in the fact that their parents are at rest in the sea they so loved.

I hope all involved never see the light of day again. I'm not a proponent of the death penalty, but I believe Skylar should die for his crimes.

I am a TRUE CRIME book reader. Of ALL the crimes I ever read about, this is the most horrifying. The diabolical premeditation is PURE EVIL. I pray they all BURN in HELL forever. The detectives were so moved, that is touched me beyond words. I cannot get the Hawks out of my mind.

In this crazy world, We are unfortunate to have more than we need of idiots like these people. The story was told in good faith and portrayed the couple in a beautiful light. God bless the time they had here and the lives they touched. I feel the idiot evil wife should have received the death penalty too, but maybe prison will suit her fine. The thought of never being able to raise her children or see freedom should make for good sleeping aids for her. I hope she is hassled in everyway and I do believe that prison is a good punishment too. Although in a real world, Justice to me would be to let the family of the victims decide their fate and do what ever they wanted to them. As for the son's You both seem to be level headed boys and have great morals, family and friends. God bless you all too!

Wow, what a horrific death for this couple. Skylar is evil masked as a wimpy little nerd. He is all soft-spoken and acts like he is getting a bit teary-eyed, but does what he can to avoid taking responsibility for his cruel actions. I also see how he is a con and a liar, he lied on the show when he said he was in 3 episodes of Power Rangers--according to his IMDB he was only in one episode.

I read about this story in an article and Skylar tried to hire someone to kill his father and cousin, as well as half-way severing his ***** in prison stating that he wanted to become a woman and that is why he killed the Hawks, so that he could have a sex change operation.

I also feel he was probably a lover of the man that he killed in Mexico-- I mean, why else would this guy take out all his money and then go to Mexico with him? He tried to put all the blame on his wife, even though she refused to testify against him, just goes to show you what he does to people that he is close with. What a piece of work he is, he should have never procreated! His daughters are lucky, he might have taken out insurance on them eventually and killed them too.

Interesting points. Had not thought about a possible romantic liaison between JP Jarvi and Skylar, although no evidence for that, and JP was a womanizer according to both books I have read on this crime.

I believe that if Rosemary really had a baby, it was Skylar The most deceptive, treacherous liar I have ever heard of in crime stories. I hope I live long enough for this miscreant to feel the needle in his arm, much like JP Jarvi felt the cold steel on his jugular as Skylar took his life for 50K.

If this had happened to my parents I would have taken the law into my own hands and killed every person involved the same exact way. That would be the only justice. There would have been nothing that would have stopped me from handeling it my own way. And on top of it I would have told of what I did with my head held high.
