CLEAN COAL the only bigger oxymoron than JUMBO SHRIMP. It's a term conjured up by "wealthy" people in the coal industry so as not to disturb one of the largest revenue streams in the country. We ALL know the facts. Scientists have been blurting out these facts for the last 50 years. The only reason there is any doubt... Well you don't become rich (and stay that way) by caring about anything else but yourself. Even their own offspring fall by the wayside. Maybe they think their offspring will be rich enough to live in clean air domes or something. I knows from experience that if something doesn't make sense you probably don't have ALL the facts. After listening and reading about CLEAN COAL for years now, it still doesn't make any sense.
/agree with bbk1040. Besides what's wrong with having Coal out of the equation? Only that Jim Rogers would have to find a new job. And so would all the coal industry works. But renewable energy can generate more jobs than coal. Per unit of energy, solar, wind and geothermal each creates at least 3 times more jobs than coal.
I fully agree, but I would suggest a step further. Mandate photovoltaic roof tiles on all new construction and replacement roofing. That will never happen though because it would decentralize electrical power generation and put a lot of CEOs out of work.
What will pumping CO2 underground do to our water supply? Seems like this is very important and was not addressed in the 60 minutes program by Scott Pelle. Also in 1960's Chemicals where pumped underground by the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in the Denver, Colo. area causing earthquakes. When pumping stopped so did the earthquakes. Let's be sure to address all the problems presented by pumping our "dirty air" underground. I am not too sure this isn't something dreamed up by the coal industry to justify using coal instead of cleaning up their acts or changing to some other form of energy production.
Seltzer water strait out of your faucets. It seems CEOs will say anything to keep the status quo! Disinformation, studies that don't prove anything but the CEO's point. It's all smoke and mirrors to keep the status quo. I've seen, from more than one source, that stated if you covered a 1000 sq miles (aprox. 31mi x 31mi) with photovoltaic panels we wouldn't need coal. I'm sure it would cost far less than a TRILLION dollars as well.
