This is very interesting.. I turn 30 this year and I have been trying to find research on this for years. I am curious to find out the history and make up of everyone. I am african-american.

I was told that by a friend that this relates to a few myths that are built around the middle east and africa. Something to do with Angels and Humans mating. I know this could sound far-fetched but who knows.

Okay my story, I found out grandpa had 12 fingers he had 14 brothers and sisters; however, I don't know if any of them had this. My mother had it which was his first born and she has two little balls like twice this size of a pimple (no bone developed) and myself I had them but she had them removed (interesting); however, I have the scares and I am her first born.

Not sure if there are any connections with that, but my grand father wasn't the first born. I had heard that there was some relation with first borns.

I have no idea about the 12 toes, I know I will ask because my feet are weird (lol)!

I was also told that people that had this were descendants of Royalty.. hmm I always felt that I had a special connection to the world.

best of luck to everyone also I'm a Gemini anybody else?

Are there any other links out there about this? please email me levarthegreat@yahoo.com I'm curious to hear.

I RECOMMEND TO THIS PARENTS THAT ACCEPT THERE SON AS GOD SEND TO THEM AND HELP HIM IN HIS GROWTH BECAUSE . HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH HIS 12 FINGERS AND YES THAT IS IN GENES OF SOMEONE IN THE FAMILY I HAVED A BABY GIRL WITH THAT CONDITION CALLED HERE IN PUERTO RICO "POLYDACTILY" AND I DON''T LET THE SURGOEN OPERATE HER BECAUSE SHE CAN DO ANYTHING WITH ALL HER FINGERS IF WHEN SHE GROW UP SHE WANT TO BE OPERATED I RESPECT HER DESICION BUT NOW I WON''T LET ANY DOCTOR CUT HER HANDS. BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE OPERATION AFFECT HER HANDS FUNTIONAL.

I watched the article on the 12 fingers and toes this a.m., My son has 12 toes and fingers, he is 2 yrs. old now. I know what they are getting ready to go thru. There are some critical things to take into account. This is very hereditary, my great grandmother had extra digits, and if this is in your genes, it will most likely be passed on thru future generations. I am from Virginia, and we are currently seeing the Shriners hospital in S.C. The toes are something that would almost have to be taken off, but I do see some benefit from extra fingers! Hey, I''m not a doctor, but this is merely my opinions. Sincerely, Greg Kemp

I saw the piece on the baby with extra digits this morning. I have two sons that were both born with 12 fingers and 12 toes. The toes on both boys were perfectly formed. The fingers on the first were just nubbs but my second had to have extensive surgery to remove the fingers. My first born was a twin but his twin brother wasn''t born with the extra digits. When my youngest son was born all I had to do was look at how wide his feet were and I knew before counting his toes. We had the extras removed when they were each about a year old. I''m doing research and trying to figure out where this came from. I have two theories so far. I am Dutch and this was prominent in the Pennsylvania Dutch community many, many years ago. Also, there was a group of people that settled in the Appalachian Mountains called Melungeons. They also had the extra digits. This was not just a fluke, obviously. I''m worried that my boys will pass this on to their kids.

Hello. I am 29 year old female born in Bermuda. I was born with 12 fingers and 12 toes. Each additional digit was fully formed %u2013 bones, finger nail and all and they were situated next to the pinky digits in all cases. It is not abnormal %u2013 we are EXTRAORDINARY!! The gene in my family is so strong that my sister 37yrs had them as well and in the same way. We each have children %u2013 my sister a 13yr old daughter and I have a 2yr old son and they have the same extraordinary gift. I feel connected to the new baby in some way . . . what a blessing!

Hello, My name is Charlotte, and I was also born with six fingers and toes. They were removed when I was around one years old, and even though I knew my parents had the best intentions Ive had problems, especially with the toes being removed. If they are considering to remove them they should take everything into consideration, such as balance issues. I had them removed all at once too so heavy anesthesia was needed. I hope everything goes well with this little one.

I was born with 12 toes and 11 fingers 61 years ago and no one in my immediate family has had the same. My mother (deceased) said they tied off my finger but had to surgically remove my toes. I have had feet problems all my life. The first thing I checked when my children were born was fingers and toes. My youngest has small web between 2 toes.

Hi, my name is Satori Black and I have a daughter that was born with 12 fingers and 11 toes. I had them removed because it was complicated finding shoes that could fit her foot by it being so wide. She had her surgery this pass June just after she turned one and everything is going fine.
