I have never been so impressed with a first family as I have been with the Obamas. They are "grounded", moral, spiritual and fine people. Your interview helped show more of their natural leadership qualities. I am thrilled to have such an intelligent President and First Lady who relate so well to everyone. For the first time in my lifetime I feel a closeness to this first family. Their warmth, love and charisma have brought back a sense of pride in this nation that I thought was lost forever. God bless the Obamas and may they continue to be role models for our country and for the world.

It is a fantastic day indeed when we have a president-elect who is a respectful, humble scholar of the U.S. Constitution, a former law professor. After the past 8 years of attacks on Americans'' constitutional duties and freedoms by Cheney/Rumsfeld/Bush and their cynical paranoia, it is high time we had a thoughtful leader who understands our Constitution and the rule of law. We will all be the more free and secure for it.

I didn''t vote for President-Elect Barack Obama, but I am glad that I have come to accept him as my President. I am overjoyed to see his appearance on CBS and his demeanor is nothing like I had expected since the campaign. It just goes to show, that no one''s really the same when they''re trying to win the election. He''s won my confidence; I have seen his calm and I feel he''s a sensitive man. Something I didn''t see prior.
I''m very proud of him and my country. We do have many challenges and I will pray that he gets through these difficult times with much success.

Best wishes to our new Preisdent and lovely family ~

As a 42 year old single African American woman watching them gives me hope that there are still Black men out there with some common sense, decency, honor, integrity along with the ablility to love "ONE" woman unconditionally out there. I admire them and hope the love they have now for one another continues to grow and blossom. Maybe they''ll be a White House baby in the future. You never know. A man like President-elect Obama should have a son to be the father to him that his dad was unwilling to be to the President-elect.

Roughkut,

Indeed, the Obamas are a class act, truly inspired leadership at last! And I am proud to share a gender with one of them...

To the President-Elect:

I remember the first time I saw Barack Obama and his wife was when he was first elected to the Senate, Oprah interviewed the two. I remember saying to a friend of mine, "I would vote for him for President." I am still in awe.

My heart has been singing since the election. But the voice of my heart faltered a bit when listening to the part of the interview in which President-elect Obama was asked if he would be making a lot of speeches, would be communicating regularly with the American people. He responded by saying that he doesn''t think that the American people are looking for a lot of speeches, but rather action-- although he realizes that explaining policy decisions in the context of his vision for the country is an important part of being a good president. His apparent undervaluing of his powers as a speechmaker concerns me. Yes, of course we want action-- we want him to fix the economy and to save the world while he''s at it.... but doesn''t he realize that we assumed that his continued plying us with inspiring speeches was all part of the deal? HOPE (Hearing Our President-Elect) is our new drug of choice and we are counting on regular fixes! Seriously, no one on the planet is in a better position to catalyze the enormous shift in consciousness necessary to "save our planet" than President-elect Obama. We are the ones we have been waiting for, but we will need to be reminded of that again and again during the challenging times ahead. We need him as a "lure to our becoming". I hope that he realizes that his role as Catalyst in Chief is as important as that of Commander in Chief.... and that''s why we not only want, but need him to make a lot of speeches.
