Todd Palin Was Registered Member of Alaska Independence Party Until 2002
By Kate Klonick - September 2, 2008, 3:25PM
The McCain camp today disputed rumors that presumptive vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was ever registered with the secessionist Alaska Independence Party by releasing years of voter registration history . . . but it looks like that doesn''t apply to her husband.
This afternoon, the director of Division of Elections in Alaska, Gail Fenumiai, told TPMmuckraker that Todd Palin registered in October 1995 to the Alaska Independence Party, a radical group that advocates for Alaskan secession from the United States.
Besides a short period of a few months in 2000 when he changed his registration to undeclared, Todd Palin remained a registered member of AIP until July 2002 when he registered again as an undeclared voter.

- the most important thing in deciding your choice in a president is education and information. There is a nonpartison sight called " project vote smart.org"
there is no reason for anyone to be nastey, just informed.
We all want the best for this country, and I don''t think there is any need to through blame or play rude politics...just be educated. - Reply to this comment

rivately, McCain brags that he was the "original neocon." And after 9/11, he took the lead in agitating for war with Iraq, outpacing even *** Cheney in the dissemination of bogus intelligence about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. "There''s other organizations besides Mr. bin Laden who are bent on the destruction of the United States," he warned in an appearance on Hardball on September 12th. "It isn''t just Afghanistan. We''re talking about Syria, Iraq, Iran, perhaps North Korea, Libya and others." A few days later, he told Jay Leno''s audience that "some other countries" - possibly Iraq, Iran and Syria - had aided bin Laden.
A month after 9/11, with the U.S. bombing Kabul and reeling from the anthrax scare, McCain assured David Letterman that "we''ll do fine" in Afghanistan. He then added, unbidden, "The second phase is Iraq. Some of this anthrax may - and I emphasize may - have come from Iraq." - Reply to this comment
- I think John just wants to be president to say he was president. I think this is just another thing to add to his military resume. He is throwing around all this dirt in a desperate attempt to achieve something that he can just say he was. I think he is doing it for the glamor and the prestige and not for the American people. COUNTRY LAST! JOHN FIRST!

- Obama is leading by an average of 8 percent in national polls. McCain and Palin are losing and are desperate.

- Hard to square this with "America is special", "democracy", "faith", etc.
With a country propped up financially by the rest of the world, involved in two wars, and in recession, yet having the gall to almost exclusively focus on character assassination.
Shame on you, senator McCain! - Reply to this comment
- It''s time that McCain realize that using Palin in these attacks against a man that has no dirty laundry worth reading about is a baaaad idea. And unfortunate for her she isn''t doing her homework just doing what she is told. They are desperate and going the wrong route! They can''t find anything dirty so they stretch the truth, shame on them. What about the real issues? Huh McCain/Palin??? Thank God for Obama!

- Putting her in as the new attack dog will surely backfire. She doesn''t have a clue what she is talking and how many skeletons are in the McCain/Palin closet? Watch your back!!

- (Good post Alaskan Voter - keep-em rolling! Palin is so unprofessionally snarky. She is certainly NO role model for our sons and daughters.)
Like Barack said, the McCain Campaign is running out of touch, running out of ideas, and running out of time. Obama is READY for Tuesday. And YES we can!!!!!!! - Reply to this comment
- Talk about Hail Mary. McCain was under investigation for the Keating 5 and Palin IS under an ethics investigation. She showing what kind of ethics rule her right now. They hope "No drama Obama" will rise above it all and not counter. Well, they''re wrong. This has outraged the democrats and has given them even more energy to fight for him, so thank you Palin for rallying the democratic base even further.

- McCain-Palin are playing with fire. These kinds of attacks are a two-edged sword. McCain had a long and intimate political relationship with Charles Keating and Palin may be obstructing a legislative inquiry and tampering with witnesses to supress the Troopergate investigation. Let''s take a look at their history of character and judgement while we also don''t forget about the economy and Iraq.

- AMERICA SHOULD BE FEARFULLY CONCERNED
ALASKA GOVERNOR - RECALL!!!
I am a Alaskan life voting Republican. This 2008 Election, I will [with pleasure] vote Democrat! This Alaska Governor has destroyed "MANY GOOD ALASKAN PEOPLE(s) professionally and politically during her short term position as Mayor in a small community Wasilla, Ak (Approx 7,500 residents ) and current Alaska State Governor.(of approx. twenty months). Whenever Palin is confronted with a question that she does not know, does not have a clue or simply does not want to answer, her indignation which turns to...ANGER...is familiar. McCains'''' V.P. selection Sarah Palin has no business being the Alaska Governor, let alone, a USA candidate for Vice President.... Maverick??.....****AMERICA SHOULD BE FEARFULLY CONCERNED****. I voted for Sarah Palin in Alaskas 2006 Governor Election. MISTAKE! Never Again%u2026 I repeat-NEVER AGAIN!!...Alaska Governor Palin is an absolute Embarrassment to the Alaska People and "IS" proven to be an insatiable Liar!! How can she possibly ASSUME the ability to clean up America, when she cannot clean the ''MESS" she has created in Alaska. Yes, A Mess FOR Alaskans to clean up. McCain, you should be ASHAMED of yourself!!!! This victim (palin)has no business in this Presidential Arena.

- PREDICTABLE.
Down by double-digits in some polls, the last things McCain/Palin are going to talk about are the issues and what they plan to do to get the country back on track. "Let''s try to sleaze our way back on top by slinging as much mud as possible."
McCain/Palin are SO concerned with Obama''s association w Ayers that they''ve said virtually nothing about it until now.
Obama served with Ayers on a board for charitable community work. Obama is NOT a terrorist and does NOT condone terrorism.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is a pinhead. - Reply to this comment
- The Republicans have used character assassination to win many elections. They pursued the Clintons throughout their entire time in office with reckless abandon ... leading eventually to impeachment hearings over an affair. How incredibly irresponsible!
I hope it doesn''t work this time. - Reply to this comment
- If you watch a person who claims to be your friend, spit in someones coffee and serve it to them, then you can rest assure that one day you will be drinking spit. McCain/Palin, "thanks but, no thanks".

- The American people will send that pistol packing MaMa back to Alaska where she belongs to finish her bridge to nowhere. Only in Alaska will they continue to believe her lies. She is not fit to be a Vice President.

- If John and Sara can''t tell the truth about OBama, how can we trust them to tell the truth about anything. Why did John turn Sara loose to spread lies about OBama. Do they really want to win that bad? You can''t win on lies and deception. I guess they just can''t see it or get it.
