- I now understand the sheer brilliance and foresight of "no child left behind". If we create a country where children are purposely taught not to think (just memorize for the test), then elections can easily be won by the likes of Palin (Bush, Quayle).

- OK 1st Sarah Palin, Please, Please, please, be quite, just shhhhh, hand over your mouth, hush,
stay hidden, and practice, practice, practice, Thursday is coming, and don''t forget your lipstick :) - Reply to this comment
- how many times does she say "shore up the economy"....
she talked too much. when you get flustered like that, you shut up and regroup. there is nothing she could have done to look worse. she tries to rephrase the question and by then can''t remember what it was to begin with.
katie did a great job. she asked what needed to be asked. - Reply to this comment
- Wow! Katie Couric''s straightforward questions produced streams of incoherent verbiage.
This demonstrates that John McCain clearly doesn''t have the judgment needed to be President! It''s clear that he never gave her a simple interview, or (equally scary) found her answers acceptable!
The United States deserves a Vice-President who has thought about the issues this country faces and can clearly speak her views rather than parroting a random set of speaking points crammed into her. - Reply to this comment
- Ummmm... what about when Biden said that during the great depression Roosevelt got on TV. He was sincere with his explanation but was completely wrong on some of those facts. He has been around long enough to know when TV was brought to us. I''m not saying he is dumb, what I am saying is when you are under the gun to answer questions you don''t always say the brightest things. Are we all so smart and perfect that you would be able to sit in front of a major news channel, knowing that millions are watching you and not fumble at any answers? In most cases all answers are "canned" in every politician. That is why they have people on their team to direct them in how to answer questions. I think Palin is a better pick because she is not a washington insider and McCain needs someone by his side that would be willing to ruffle some feathers. We are not getting another 4 years of BUSH. We are getting 4 years of McCain who has a record of doing what is right for the PEOPLE, not the lobbiests.

- Wow, I finally had time to see this interview... So, is talking in circles a good thing to put on a resume now? She''s in if it is! I am one of those 40-year old female voters and was a Hillary backer before Obama was nominated for the dem party; now, I will vote Obama all day long. I was not a Hillary voter because she''s a mom, wife, or a woman. I believe in her philosophy and direction and I still believe in the Democratic party''s direction.
Why on earth would someone think because Sarah can bear children and drive kids to hockey that I "relate" with her. She has no clue about this country or other countries - there''s no way I would stay in this country that I was born and raised in if she became President of this U.S.!! How can anyone turn their head to this? It''s like she''s being trained... "okay, now sit, Sarah... you can do it! Good girl!" NO WAY! - Reply to this comment
- by the way, could anyone else hear the song "The Sidestep" everytime this woman opened her mouth?
Here''s the URL, for those who don''t remember...

- How can anyone possibly vote for McCain when he chose this completely incompetent person to be his VP? She has no train of thought, not just one I happen to disagree with. She is rambling on and on incoherently. How can Americans be so blind as to support her. Wake up dammit.

- nureetco1: "I can''t believe these comments. Lets see you up there answering one question without getting the whole country on your case for each and every comment you make. Very easy to citicise."
That''s the point of an interview specifically and the democratic process generally, isn''t it? Let''s see us up there answering those questions? And why not? You want to elect the next leader of the most powerful nation on the planet and you''re all sad that the potential leader can''t answer basic questions? The fact that her canned answers are so easy to criticize should perhaps give you cause for concern. Well thought out and intelligent answers withstand criticism because there are realistic premises behind those answers. Nobody is ganging up on Palin as a person. I''m sure she''s very nice, but when you''re choosing one individual to lead the nation, you think they ought to get through an interview--one interview--like they were being fed milk and cookies? - Reply to this comment
- Look, let''s be fair, Sarah Palin is not a complete idiot. Whether you agree with her politics or not, watching her in previous debates and so forth shows that she DOES have an IQ higher than %u201CDUH%u201D. However, the carelessness exercised by the McCain camp to bring someone completely out of their league into the national political scene this late in the game, is troubling. This pick was clearly done as a gimmick. It is clearly going to result in Quayle 2.0 for the Republican Party, and worse troubling for our Country if they win. I am an independent and I have to say that I am not %u201CWow%u2019d%u201D about Obama; nevertheless they are not the ones spinning out of control with their ideology at the moment. So Republicans, give it a rest. Katie Couric was in no way shape or form %u201Chostile%u201D (let%u2019s be real). She overextended herself to try to be too polite and didn%u2019t press her hard enough regarding her apparent lack of understanding. Simply put, the McCain Camp%u2019s strategy of locking Sarah away from the outside world, cramming her with rhetoric, and all of a sudden allowing the media to press %u201Cplay%u201D on her brain was going to result in her spewing this loopy jargon that no one can make out; even if you play it backwards. Period.

- I think people would forgive Sarah Palin for not having the most foreign policy experience and for not having easy answers for the financial crisis if she brings other virtues to the ticket.
The reason I am so appalled is because she pretends to be someone she is not and tries to cover up what she doesn''t know instead of sharing what she does know. Essentially, she has chosen to lie to us about who she is really is. You can''t be articulate, passionate and persuasive when you don''t believe what you are saying-- and that is what shines through loud and clear.
The fact that she doesn''t lie well or convincingly or logically is glaring, yet it is much less important than her choice to misrepresent herself to us. We do not need a leader who bulls**** their way through difficult issues.
I''m certain that Sarah has virtues, skills, and abilities. I''m also certain she MUST have some genuine evaluations and opinions of domestic and international issues based on her experience in government and politics-- even if she is not a policy wonk with a turn-key plan. So, it''s disappointing and inexplicable that she devotes her camera time to padding her credentials--albeit clumsily--and trying to fake her way though subjects she doesn''t know.
Inexperience combined with bluster, dogmatic statements, over-confidence is dangerous. Arrogance is a fatal flaw in a leader. - Reply to this comment
- Mrs. Palin may be a good Governor, but she is in the wrong game. Say what you may, but she is not ready for one of the most important job in this country. A heart beat away from being the President and not being able to articulate to one of the best female news achors would be a grave mistake. We already have a president that has a communication problem when it come to giving interviews.

- Palin''s response of not rewarding those who have made poor decisions is kind of like saying a starving Eskimo, coming across a moose she has killed by shooting it from a helicopter, over eats and she denies them medical treatment because they should have known better. She is not the first person that has given this wharped sense of logic. Is it just me or does it not make more sense to adjust the house notes of forclosure victims so they can keep paying and not just abandon homes that can''t be sold? How dumb is it to argue that someone shouldn''t be able to keep and pay for a home that will otherwise become a part of a bigger problem. Not just because of this statement but this is a scary lady.

- Palin supporters are offended by the insults and critiques of their beauty queen. But just because she''s pretty does not qualify her to run a country or even assist. No,I couldn''t answer some of these questions, BUT I''m not running for president or vice-president.

- Ms. Palin makes President Bush sound like a Rhodes Scholar. We have had enough "just like me" in the white house. We need people that can string more than three words together and sound like they understand the mess we are in. Ms. Palin should go back to her moose hunting.

- Katysteel:
There is a HUGE difference between Palin''s COMPLETE inability to haddle these questions and Biden, Obama and McCain saying stupid things like:
McCain: Mistaking Sunnis and Shiites, saying there was a border between Iraq and Iran
Obama: saying there were 57 states
Biden: saying FDR was the president in 1929
All you Palin supporters have to realize that all candidates will say silly things every once and a while but it is clear that McCain, Obama and Biden are intelligent and know what they''re talking about and Palin DOES NOT. - Reply to this comment
- She does great with the hostile hosts. Maybe you obamabots need to pay more attention when your messiah talks without a telepromter. He is totally ignorant.

- Come on let''s face facts McCain is hated by the religious right so he chose airhead Palin to placate them & bring them onboard. He insulted Hillary''s women supporters by thinking they would fall for Palin. McSame is only interested in being President & doesn''t give a dam about this country. He proved it by selecting airhead Palin as his running mate. A vote for McSame is another nail in the coffin for America.
