I have to say that I appreciated both the tougher questions for Obama and the feel good approach they took to McCain. The direct approach to Obama''s interview allowed him to give direct answers and to show himself as the practical, straight forward man that he is. McCain''s softball interview also seemed appropriate since he is so old and tired and we wouldn''t want to tax him by asking any difficult questions. Nevertheless, I did see a couple of glimmers of the old McCain, the one I used to respect, and it made me sad because it definitely highlighted how he has sold out all of his "maverick" ideals to the Rove/Bush machine just to get his foot in the White House door. I do agree with him that a cut and run approach to leaving Iraq would create the same kind of anti-American sentiment that we have caused in the past. But Obama, as he stated in HIS interview, is not advocating a cut and run approach, but a thoughtful, careful withdrawal that will do the least damage AND stop the $10 BILLION a month bleed out that has been the Bush policy so far. So McCain should be very happy about that. And since McCain and Palin seem so very excited about change in Washington for this election, perhaps they too will be voting for Obama ''08. I know where they can get a nifty button!
