seriously, how far should they move the mosque? It is already not at ground zero, but a few blocks away, right?

So how far is enough for you and why?

I find that an incredibly silly argument.

Well said guns in the skies. Shame on the church of any god that persecutes another. You are not fit to preach nor protest. Muslims you have too many issues to deal with before you want to protest anything. Start giving women some more rights and equality. Who cares what your self-righteous views are. You forget where you came from which is their wombs. For this you are all despicable if you don't understand that something is wrong when you persecute your mothers in this way. Preachers need to stop this double standard of loving all except this religion and that. Find something to do or say that benefits everyone! In this way, religions need not compete or fear each other. Can anyone tell me HOW is ANY religion worthy when they believe in separation or any superiority especially with threats or violence. Start thinking Humanity people, if not just shut up as nothing will change.

He suggested I contact Satan, since burning is his area of expertise

Although not in agreement with burning Qurans, the reaction of protesters chanting death to America and burning our flag is equally distasteful. In fact, those actions are more distasteful than a reverend with fifty followers buring Qurans. We see thousands of Muslims protesting something that a small group of Americans are doing.
-------

And we see thousands of Americans/chritisians still protesting something that a small group of muslim did almost a decade ago.

It was a tragic event, but Americans/chritisians should stop using it as an excuse for their actions.

Whther a few or a million Americans support Reverend Jones, Americans are noy burning Muslim flags and chanting death to the Muslims. A few people buning books is not the same as killing people. And don't equate our military with the Muslims who indiscriminately blow people up. Our military makes attempts to kill an enemy, not innocent people. And we are aware that sometimes mistakes happen and innocent people do get killed. That, however, is not the same as indiscriminate killing of innocent people.

Guns: You are such a stupid idiot, I just can't believe it! That "small group of Muslims" you talk about killed over 3,000 people in New York, you nit wit! That's more than were KILLED at Pearl Harbor in December of 1941! You Muslim lovers really are something!!!

Actually, 'askagain', many American Soldiers have been detained for "killing for sport". Another incident of this has just occurred recently. These troops were killing civilians and keeping fingers as trophies. If we had a military force in our country performing these types of sickening acts, we would most likely burn their flag as well. I am in full support of our troops and I greatly appreciate the blanket of security that they provide for me to sleep beneath every night, however, don't be misguided that everything we do overseas is to benefit the people of the countries in which we invade. Just as there are loose screws in the Taliban, we have a few loose screws in the U.S. Military as well. Our overall intentions are good and have been carried out to the best of our ability, but their are still bad seeds overseas killing innocent people, intentionally.

As for burning the Holy Qur'an... My understanding is that people of the Muslim faith burn the Qur'am when it is no longer in use anyhow, because it is disgraceful to throw it in the trash. So the act of burning the Holy Qur'an is actually not the offensive part of this story. It is his intentions behind burning them, the hatred behind his actions, that is so offensive and disrespectful. I was also told that any Qur'an translated to the English language is not considered a real Qur'an because it is not in God's language, Arabic. I'm willing to bet this fool is burning a bunch of translated versions. Simply put, his ignorance is immeasurable and he is a disgrace to Christians everywhere.

They had better not move that mosque. If they do then the extremist religious freaks have won.

Do we REALLY want what the Republican want, a war on Islam. Do we REALLY want to divide ourselves from 1.5 billion of the earths people? I know the corporate Republicans don't care but everyone else with a brain should.

noloyalist - Think for a moment. Many posters accuse the Republicans of being ruthless business people. Corporations want to sell products. We go to Europe, South American, Asia, and other parts of the world to have goods made for us and to sell goods. Why would a Republican who has shirts made in Pakistan want turmoil, Why would a Republican who sells computers in Africa want turmoil. Unless you are a gunrunner, turmoil and instability is bad for business.

Perhaps the Quran incident is simply a smokescreen that the protesters are using. If anything, we should be offended by the Muslim concept of Jihad, the fact that they discriminate against Jews and Christians and other non-Muslims and the fact that Muslims have destroyed churches, synagogues, and religious shrines in their own countries. And what have have they done to Bibles and non-Muslim books and religious articles? It is difficult to respect people who won't respect us. Hopefully Muslims who read this post will realize that if they expect respect, they must show us respect in return.

OK - here's the flaw with your "logic": the ones who do those things are extremists.

Do you honestly think that extremists are going to listen to any "lesson" you try to teach them?
askagain replies:
linkicon reporticon emailicon
Wrong. It has been officially condoned and decreed by the leaders of Muslim countries for centuries. Jews and Christians have been persecuted in the Middle East for hundreds of years, long before the extremists as we know them even existed. Take a look at Saudia Arabia law. It didn't just evolve suddenly. Were the rulers of those countries the extremists who blow up people and kill whomever disagrees with them.

The purpose of religion is to manipulate and control people through fear of spending eternity in hell. Once you get people to believe in invisible people you can tell them anything at all and they will believe.

Like Reverand Glenn Beck once said "ya gotta believe in something, even if it's wrong ya gotta believe"

The fear of outward evil is a lack of understanding of GOD within each human. Sadly religion, a human created thing gets in the way of the assention process. Religion def. religio,,,latin,,,for to relate back to. This by defination removes people from the PRESENT, which is were GOD is with us. So, the study and exersise of religion is the counter productive action which shall never lead one to actually come to know their GOD. The aspects of religon are not by nature blind or obtuse. Doctrine and Dogma tend to disrupt in a soul stealing action of those humans in the power seats misdirecting their flocks. But, as a protestant...-I protest there is any person between me and GOD-
Not that the teachers of their respective ways are all wrong. This would be a judgement best left to GOD. The wise person understands that quite often the best teacher, teaches how not to do it. Discernment~which equals a personal choice, vs. Judgement~which equals condemnation. This is the reality of this pissn contest.
