Sounds like the bullies turn on one another pretty quick. Bullying of this kid is not acceptable either. Something needs to happen at this school.

Well now that he knows how it feels, maybe there will be one less bully in the school and off the streets. Shouldn't feel this way but I can't feel sorry for him!!

I agree - I can't feel sorry for him either - I guess that makes me just as bad but I hate to see kids get bullied and I hate when the bully gets away with it.

I would encourage any parent of a bullied child to sign them up for Jiu Jitsu. A good school will teach them how to fight and defend themselves. Their self-respect will also flourish. My son was being picked on by two older kids in our neighborhood. After 6 months of Jiu Jitsu, one of the older boys hit my son in front of the entire neighborhood. My son hit him once and immediately took him to the ground. The other boys looked on in shock. Needless to say this was the last time any of them picked on him. My son is now a brown belt. His confidence is at an all time high. This is the only way to stop bullying. You have to fight back because they will not stop.

I agree that martial arts training is an excellent remedy.

This is in reply to yerhumps .. we are in Texas and this is not considered manly. My son was smaller than the other boys when this happened. The bullies pick on kids that don't fight back. All the bullying of my son stopped when he fought back. He might have got his butt kicked but I guarantee you that that pain goes away in a day. Mental pain from bullying can last a lifetime. The bullies don't want someone that will fight back. They pick on the meek and weak for a reason. Do you really think that the school can stop this. I don't. Once the bully is brought in and is reprimanded, do you think the bullying will stop? Don't be so naive. It might even get worse.

What the children need to have drummed into their heads is that everything you do has consequences. But their parents don't teach it to them and leave it to schools where administrators and some teachers don't understand that everything has consequences.
Members of Congress ought to have this drummed into their heads as well, as should Presidents (who have a habit of skating off), professors, preachers, and everyone else.
But they are all "entitled" and don't have to pay for hurting others.

These are sad stories. I hope students, parents, teachers and everyone else is taking this to heart. We can be a relatively civilized nation at times. Currently, it seems, we scream, ridicule and make veiled threats at anyone who does not think or look like we do. It hope this trend ends soon.

"Teachers and students in the school district had already undergone anti-bullying training after a similar suicide last year."

Looks like the training fell flat. Teachers and administrators should know better and should be held accountable too.

No sympathy from me. I hope it hurts you like hell. I hope the bullies that essentially killed Phoebe Prince get harassed and threatened, so they can feel the pain they caused. I don't wish any actual harm on anyone, but I hope they feel the fear and pain they caused, and I hope their parents feel the same fer and pain. They caused this to happen, and need to be reminded that what goes around comes back around. That's my angry 2 cents.
