Assert Former N.J. Boy, 9, At Center Of International Custody Dispute, Loves Them, Doesn't Want To Live With Father In U.S.
- ya know I almost replied to you with symathy and an offering of support until i read your statement above in which you accuse Mr. Golman of abuse. Never has there been an accusation, never mind charge for any form of violence against him. Even from BRUNA his now deceased wife. If you are trying to gather support for your cause I would rethink alienating others and try joining them. You will benifit in the long run. I hope that you are not the only person helping this woman...she's doomed for sure if thats the case.

First thank you CBS for not airing the kidnapped Sean saying what was pummeled into his head by his Kidnappers! Kudos for that, i will stop calling for now : )
Second BOO for not having all the facts on hand for this interview. You had an oppurtunity to strip these heartless corrupt criminals down to the bare bones and simply because you did not bother to do your research...well they got away with even more.
Third...how much are they paying you Leah1. You should be ashamed to take money that is tainted with the broken heart of a child. - Reply to this comment

- Fortunately, David has no history of starving his child; no hiding his child for a year only to have him found almost completely wasted away with untreated broken bones.
You are almost as nuts as your psychotic sister. Sounds like the best thing that could happen for little Jesse is to be completely separated from any and all blood relations... 'cause you all seem to be completely out of your collective minds.
Now - can we please let this forum be about the actual Sean Goldman case it is supposed to focus on?

- DISGUSTED, I dont give a damn about you helping a cause, dumb, dumb, April Griffin has just as much RIGHT as David Goldman, and Jesse deserved protection and a right to be with his rightful legal guardian, and Equal protection- until that happens GOD has sent a many curses around, you are a hypocrite, you care less about children, its not my cause, its theirs, yall have stole and lied for centuries and this is the wrath of God! April and Jesse will eventually get justice until they do -WATCH what I tell you injustice is going to run rampant on David Goldman's and others like him-

- CBS #1 you were in violation of a court order and to think that you would exploit a young boy all for a STORY. You did not get the permission from his ONLY Father to broadcast Sean even for your promos and part of the planned interview that you put on the air. SHAME ON YOU, You deserve to get sued!!! If it were my child, I would not waste one minute
#2 Harry Smith is a poor excuse for a reporter. What an INCOMPTETENT ALLEGED REPORTER! Does he need to go back to JOURNALISM 101?
Where are your ethics CBS? Broadcasting and supporting ABDUCTORS of an AMERICAN CITIZEN!!
Your ratings should further drop as you have no integrity and it appears that all you care about is RATINGS AND MONEY!! - Reply to this comment
- And freeparil there is NO WAY that I would even consider helping your "cause".....Maybe you should find some other site to try to get your cause out there....I am thinking that maybe your "cause" is a ploy for personal excuses

- It would so nice to know that Mr. Goldman's attorney were monitoring these comments and each person that wants to make a smear campaing have to face the consequences of the intruths that they want to spread. But then again, that would also include CBS. I think that this is a story that CBS should have never touched in the first place especially without doing homework and getting the correct information out there.

- Wow so you consider love to be keeping a child away from his father? Makes one wonder what your childhood was like or if you are still a child?!

- Some of these comments on here are absoultely disgusting. Why would anyone in the world wish on anyone the things that Mr. Goldman is going through. His son was taken from him ILLEGALLY!!! The family in Brazil know what they are doing is wrong. It leads me to wonder how they would appreciate it if Bruna would have brought her baby girl to the US and this case was vice versa. I will tell you if this was my son, I would have taken the law into my own hands!!! I admire Mr. Goldman for taking the proper steps and wish him a speedy return of his own son. For those of you that think the Brazil family is right in this situation, imagine if this was your child. What would you do?

- I think that this is a wonderful idea, but just how easy would it be for him. Maybe the other family should give the child back to his biological father and them move to the US if they want to see Sean. Just a thought.

- This interview is beyond outrageous and the comments about Sean's True and BIOLOGICAL Father are reprehensible. I am deeply disappointed that CBS would allow this interview. As for the comments here about David, you only show your bigotry and ignorance of any and all applicable laws regarding custody. Sean is DAVID's son. Regardless of how long he has lived in Brazil. Regardless of what they have told Sean to say, regardless of what they will say in a television statement. NOTHING that Joao Silva can say or do will EVER change this fact. David's rights as the Biological Father trump any and ALL efforts to keep him in Brazil. The sooner this boy is re-united with his father, the better, the healthier and the safer he will be. Anyone standing in the way of this FACT will only be sadly disappointed and will eventually have to answer for their CRIME.

- The interview is misleading because the grandmother, grandfather and their attorney lied and omitted important facts, which the interviewer failed to ask. Among such facts is that that David was not allowed to visit his son in the past (as the grandmother wanted us to believe) and that the stepfather deliberately disobeyed a court order granting the right to David to visit his son exclusively to prevent father from meeting with the boy. These facts are referred to in the decision rendered by the Brazilian judge that determined the return of the boy to the US, such decision even mentions that the stepfather was considered to act in bad fate.
The decision also says, according to an expert report prepared by three psychologists, that Sean's opinion should not be taken into consideration because his been under a father alienation process and he has a very fragile psychological situation, besides from being too young to fully understand the battle and the repercussions of the decision on his life.
The interview makes no reference to the fact that a decision on the merits was granted by a Brazilian judge determining the return of Sean to US and confirming the abduction of the boy carried out by the mother and the stepfather, contrary to what the attorney Sergio Tostes said in the interview. The Brazilian Supreme court which analyzed the case when the mother was alive considered her guilty of abducting the child, but misinterpreting the convention concluded that since long time has passed from the date of the abduction until the rendering of the decision the boy should stay with the mother. Now that the mother died the abduction is being continued by the stepfather and the case was reviewed by the Federal judge, who considered that the boy should return to his father. Also it is important to say that according to Brazilian Civil Law custody should never be granted to the stepfather, custody belongs to the father and the sole exception is when there are serious accusations against the father of abuse, violence, drugs or alcohol and none of those allegations against the father were ever brought in this case.
The Brazilian family has been doing everything to prevent David from seeing his son, including a wide defamation campaign against the father in Brazil and is using all means to revert the judge decision, including the abusive use of influence in both the courts and in political arena. The abusive use of influence by the family in this case has been criticized in Brazil by the media and in several blogs, because they act as if they were above the law and use "dirty" means to get where they want, they even got a suspicious decision from an isolated Supreme Court Minister to suspend the effects of the decision of the Brazilian judge, which was later revoked by a unanimous decision of all Supreme Court members (including that that previously granted the decision). Still the boy was not returned because they obtained another decision from lower Federal Court suspending the judge's decision until lower federal court grants a decision on the merits. The strategy of the Brazilian family is clearly to postpone the decision as much as possible and to use all means to gain public opinion to make pressure for a decision in their favor.
I am a Brazilian and I have been following this case from very long time. I think the position and actions that the Brazilian family have been taking in this case are repulsive. They lie, they omit facts and twist the facts in their favor. They are not worried with the child well being, otherwise they would not expose him that much, neither submit the boy to extensive parental alienation. - Reply to this comment
- "It would so much better for Sean, if the Brazilian family would have paved the way for an easy exchange of Sean. It would have been in the best interest of the child."
Yes! They've made this situation worse. - Reply to this comment
- This is sick. These people are liars trying to fight the law.
Sean's been in Brazil 60% of his life because he was KIDNAPPED. If they want to do what is right, they need to let Sean be with his father.
Disgusting. - Reply to this comment
- I am disappointed and embarrassed by Harry Smith's interview. As a reporter, he should be objective and neutral rather than taking up the agreeable position. He repeats what interviewees with an agreeable attitude. He did not probe deeper into the questions and answers. CBS can do a better job of preparation.

- Harry Smith should stick to asking celebrities what shampoo and conditioner they use. This was an opportunity to ask some tough questions that needed to be answered. I am so disgusted with the interview that I will now fully boycott CBS. Hard hitting journalism at its best (sarcasm). I;m embarassed for other journalist.

- I would like to know why the US government did not arrest this man whom is a known kidnapper of sean? Does anyone thing its odd that maybe Bruna was going to leave Mr. DeSilva and suddenly comes up dying during childbirth. Maybe when he goes back to Brazil some-one would have taken his own child to another country such as Columbia and let him try to wage a issue on return. God will punish all these people holding this child. What a sorrowful excuse of people and of a country. The US should stop all contact as they did with Cuba.
