So this ever-devoted and loving father loses track of his daughter, abandons her for years, and then she's shoved into an orphanage and somehow he wants to be a family man? This man is derelict and despicable. If it hadn't been for Madonna wanting to adopt the child, this non-father would've ignored and disassociated himself from his own daughter. I'm sure if Madonna were to offer him a finder's fee, he'd grab it up in a microsecond. Madonna's motives so far outweigh this low-life. Those who think Madonna's actions would break-up a family, are very misinformed. There never was a family and this derelict and despicable DNA donor certainly doesn't qualify as one. He's a father in DNA only.

dea4him, you raise some very good points and it is refreshing to hear from the side of person who has been there and done that. I too feel that adoption in the US is far too complicated and give way too much leeway to the birth parents as far as changing their mind. It should be once it's done...it's done. A simple solution is to allow the biological child contact with the birth parents. It should be mandatory in all adoptions (unless of course, the birth parents don't want it.)

It's wrong to bust up a family just because the parents are struggling financially.

In this case, there was NEVER a family. Just a child abandoned in an orphanage. Why is it the Father all of a sudden wants his daughter after 4 years of never seeing her? There couldbe MNAY underlying motives here on both parts. (A) Madonna needs the publicity for some reason or/and (B) The father wants money. What's his price?

As an adoptive mom myself, I can tell you that the American government doesn't exactly make it "easy" to adopt American children. There are thousands of children in Foster homes that really would love a family. However, the court system is keeping these children forever in Foster care because they refuse to take parental rights away from the parents who are incapable of taking care of their children. Want to talk about newborn adoption? It's just as expensive to adopt a newborn in the U.S. as it is to adopt internationally, and with abortion on the rise, couples wait several years before a birth mom finally chosses them to parent her child. Also, just becuase you have a commitment with your agency doesn't mean you get the child. The birth mother still has the option of changing her mind after the birth. You're out all that money you paid your agency. There is absolutely nothing wrong with families who want to adopt a chld go outside the U.S. to adopt children who are in desperate need of families. If the U.S. wants more American children adopted by Americans, make better laws that protect the adoptive families, and allow foster children the chance to find a forever family, whether that's their foster family or another. I know many foster parents that are very frustrated because they want to adopt their children, but can't; and I know many people who've adopted domestically and had many, many problems. If someone has it in their heart to adopt internationally, and they have the financial means, where's the problem with that? The point of this story is that Madonna has not fulfilled the requirements...she must live there for 18-24 months...any of you can afford to live in Africa for two years and still pay for the adoption??? And yes, her team should be asking for DNA sample. A child is a child no matter what color they are or what country they come from. All children deserve a family to love them.

PROUD ADOPTIVE MOM of a child adopted from RUSSIA!!!

He can't support his child, has never seen his child. Madonna (although I don't really like her) could provide this child with education, toys, clothing, food etc. Madonna while probably not the best parent around is willing to pay for staff and all the things this child could ever need to become a rich and productive citizen of the world. I was against this before I was for it.
Perhaps Madonna doesn't feel altruistic enough to support a whole village or orphanage, although I know she supports many charities. She could always move on and adopt another orphan from another place. If a child has no parents, anything is better than nothing.
Her children are well taken care of. What orphaned child in the US wouldn't beg for a chance to have the life that this lady could provide. Madonna how about checking out the USA because I'm sure some children in this country need you.

I would oppose Madonna adopting too, afterall she does not have a husband and that means it is not a proper situation to raise a child. ---------------------- Posted by mrs_entity

She's got a poolboy, a cabana boy, a chauffer, and a boytoy . . . who needs a hubby?

That does not create a proper Christian enviroment to raise a child in Vicar.

Of course, the dad's not taking care of the daughter either. I'm not for foreign adoptions, but sometimes you are faced with the best of two bad choices. Maybe it is that way with this orphan.

A child is a child....no matter what country it is from! How old fashioned an idea that one must stick with "a child of our own kind" to raise.

I'd like to see the wealthy celebrities chip in and help the parents of these children keep their families together rather than adopt designer children. That would demonstrate a true willingsness to help their fellow man. It's wrong to bust up a family just because the parents are struggling financially.
