omega39-2009- I don't have a problem with that approach but if you think that will cure anything your mistaken. Amsterdam has had legal marijuana for decades and it created greater problems. Rampant illegal drug usage and massive increases in homeless and drug treatment programs. I was in Amsterdam last year - it is not a pretty place. If your into hookers, people selling drugs of all kinds on the street and the smell of urine everywhere it is heaven, but the people of Amsterdam are cracking down on it and there is a move afoot to shut the whole thing down.

So maybe legal drugs don't solve the problem they create more problems.

curse914 - What???? What do farm subsidies have to do with anything in this article??

Bush did not create illegal drug usage or illegal immigration. Blaming Reagen for those is beyond stupid. I am in my 50's and remeber hearing about illegal aliens in this country since I was a boy.

Oh - and by the way - farm subsidies were upped in the latest Obama budget. Careful dude your in a glass house with a hand full of stones.

Mexico has asked the US to at least consider legalizing Marijuana. The puritans said no.

Hillary and Bill had eight years to reduce drug usage and made ZERO effort to cut the demand. It is beyond gall to watch her now blame others and ignore their own failings. They stopped funding anti drug messaging saying it didn't work when it had more impact than the nothing they did.

Funny - nobody wants to say we CAN cut demand for drugs if we try. It is the same old tired leftist mindset. They (whomever the left is considering aiding in their typical condescending way) can't help themselves. The will do (drugs/have sex/won't go to school- pick the problem of your choice) no matter what we do so we will have to protect them from the consequences so we will (up the money for drug rehab/fund free abortions/increase welfare) and they will be safe and happy in their ignorance. Its all we can do for them.

Llberals think so little of most people they assume them incapable of self direction. This border fight between Mexico and drug cartels will be used to prompt all kinds of social engineering in the US. Just wait and see.

"and the guns that are used by the drug cartels against the police and the military - 90 percent of them come from America."

Another line of BS created by the Obama/Clinton admiinistration. Any LEO not on the Fed. payroll will tell you most of the weapons are from South American Military black market sales. You can't buy these weapons at your local gun shop or gun show. Those who believe otherwise are proof positive KoolAid addicts.

Why did we just sit back for years and allow millions and millions of illegals to cross the border? I don't think cheap farm labor is a good enough excuse. If we would have taken care of this problem way back in the 80's, then we would be able to have much better control of this situation today.

Plain. common sense. Our government just doesn't have it.

Farm subsidies are a loser too, but we have had nearly 30 years of Cheap Labor Conservatives running our nation. Today is the outcome of the Reagan Revolution.
