tootall, you are correct that humans, by their own power, are not capable of this sort of peace or forgiveness. It can only come from the Holy Spirit living within -- and He will only come into your heart when he is invited to do so.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost 2 loved ones in a horrific accident and it has been 8 years...you are a person of great faith if you can truly forgive at this time. After a week I was still numb & in denial - I was never angry at God or anyone - but so broken hearted - I still am. The only thing that has kept me going is my faith, The Serenity Prayer & Perseverance. May God Bless you and your children. pbwy

tootall - Didn't you just read the other comment that her own brother was murdered - and yet you say we haven't seen first hand what humanity does to humanity. And no, I'm not anti-gun. You are very prejudice and speak what you don't know. And the world accuses us of judging people! If a person is a true believer, his/her heart is changed, and we see things differently than you do. We are not defending our rights. We are testifying to what is true for our lives, and the changes Jesus brings to our heart. Yes, we are human and make mistakes, but as a Christian we are not perfect, we are forgiven. That makes the difference.

I too have had a brother murdered. I found the only way to rid myself of the pain of hatred was to forgive the person that did this. He is in jail for life which I feel is appropriate. One must pay for their crimes. But at the same time I have forgiven him.
I agree with mizbecki-2009. Who are you to call her a liar? Do you know her heart? Do you even know her personally? I will pray for you as hopefully you will grow from this experience.

You are obviously a non-believer, so you would never understand that once you become a true born again believer, you forgive as Jesus forgives you. A true believer has a changed heart that the world will never understand unless they become one also. Jesus taught us to love our enemies and to pray for them. That is what she is doing. If you can't accept that, don't leave remarks as you did.

I'm so sorry for the way you see the world tootall1014.
But, the truth is, you can't speak for everyone in the world. And there are those of us who have grown up with love and forgiveness. It's not an easy road, but one can do it. You don't have to forgive the action. Just the person.
Hatred only hurts the one who is hating. And that is a scientific fact, as well as a spiritual one.
You have a lot of nerve calling her a liar. She's a stronger person than you'll ever be.
