Rep. Donald Manzullo, R-Ill., asked if a $3 million bonus was too much. "It is excessive for a failing institution, yes," said Kashkari.

Henry Paulson was Sach''s chief a few years ago. He has many greedy friends in Wall street. It is no surprise he and Pres. Bush insisted not to have congressional oversight over the $700 billion wall street bailout money. They also insisted that none of that maney is used to bail out automakers so that their greedy friends in wall street can get more of it. Besides GOP want to bust labor and couldn''t be happier to get this opportunity to do so. They want all labor to be paid peanuts and all profits to go to share holders and executives as though executives aren''t already highly paid. US executives are the highest paid in the world, but US labor are not.

Retention bribes? Where is any employee or CEO going to go for a job in the financial and insurance sector?

This is bull. We can''t help workers in the auto manufacturing sector that actually produce something tangible, but we can give these paper pushers that contributed to the problem and produce nothing of value, billions in bonuses.

Well of course !

Lobster & Martini lunches, and naturally the Congressional Democrats are invited.

You can also bet there will be real nice gifts sent to Congressional Democrats from the U.A.W. too.

Its nice to bail everyone out and be a hero, sadly it is at the taxpayers expense.

Morons.

You idiot, it was Bush and his entourage that proposed the bailout in the first place. The Dems wanted oversight and Bush fought it.

It is you who is on the planet MORON!

The republicans DRAFTED the bailout! The Democrats said we''ll support you on your cause but you will have to put up 52% of the vote. The Republicans didn''t come thru with their end of the bargain so the Democrats said "we will not vote for it unless the Republicans take the majority and ownership of their own proposed plan". It then went back to the drawing board and then the Republicans FINALLY put forth the majority of votes. I watched this entire process and it was rediculous in the first place. I blame the Republicans!

I hope these "leaders" of ours do some leading and not just fearing whether they will be still leading two, four..whatever years from now.

I think all leaders need to learn chess, bridge or eight ball pool -- so they can see the relation of a move now and a move later...

just a thought

Bailouts, highway and road work programs, a new healthcare program,The big three going out of buisness, I smell more taxes all around leading to a depression. It isn''t the Presidents, Past , Future, or present, it''s the corrupt reps in the house and senate. They have the finale say, and whether its contiolled by Dems or the Gop, nothing ever gets done. Then when called on their mis-givings, they all do a sidestep and blame whoever is President.
What a Crock, and most Americans buy it. HOW IDIOTIC. Wake-Up America, Quick!!!!!

Amazing, isn''t it, that Congress is having such hissy fits over the automotive LOAN package, but basically THREW hundreds of billions of dollars at Wall Street firms with ZERO accountability. What''s the loan package down to now, 14 billion? Hucking Fypocrits! Someone please publish the names of Senators and Representatives who voted to bail out Wall Street but voted to deny the automotive LOAN package. Even if you don''t want the Detroit Two to get gov help, ask these politicians why bailing out Wall Street at FORTY times the cost is a better deal than saving millions of jobs through a LOAN.

Then what to we do about Pelosi and Frank for saying "Yes???"

Let''''s put it this way - when a man comes home and finds his wife in bed with another man, and they''''re both nude and she doesn''''t act like she''''s being forced...

Does he blame just the man and still defend his wife?

''''Cause that''''s sorta what you''''re doing.

Just because I think Bush is a weesel doen''t mean I would jump in bed with Nutty Nancy. She goes with the flow and is lead by the nose. You have to admit, the treasury is still in charge and no one know where the money is regardless of how you feel about the Dems.

I want accountablility and the absolute fact that there is none in the Bush White house is indisputable.

This is a huge crock of @#$%. Without oversight the money was/is handed over and will be dispersed as the companies see fit and we''''re going to get screwed all over again.

Democrats can not possibly vote against a Union. The UAW Union ios more powerful than any of the whimpy Democrats in Congress, They need their chicken feed to fund campaigns & Unions love to hand out the feed.

Obama and Bush both called for the Bailout. To Blame Bush or anyone else for the greed of AIG executives is dumb.I hope that President Elect Obama keeps his word , when he preaches for us to come together and stop the personal attacks and the division. I voted for Mcain but will support Mr. Obama 100%, I will respect his office and his position as the new Commander and Chief. Ials will do the same for President Bush, even after Jan,20th, as well as President Clinton, for all are, or have been the President. Bill Clinton faced the 1st bombing of the WTC, the Serbian and Bosnian debacle, and Somalia.
George Bush faced the Destruction of the WTC and the continuing war on terror. Hind sight is 20-20, Im sure each would have done some things differant if given another chance,Lets pray that President Obama with his limited experiance does not get tested in these ways, and lets be ready to forgive him if mistakes are made. For as his predicesors he would been doing what he thinks is best for the people.Lets come together!!!!!!!
