What Bush has proven, over the last 8 years, is that he''s not really from America, either! His policies benefit few Americans (although quite a few Saudi oil sheiks would definitely call him friend), his executive branch of government has been a functional disaster, from FEMA to EPA, FDA, CIA, HUD, etc. One can observe, to the extent that ordinary Americans depend on their Federal govt MORE than rich Americans do, he''s been NO friend to them either. With his torture, illegal spying, and rendition policies, he''s shown himself to be no friend to the American Constitution, no less!! Still, he must understand, at the least, the CEREMONIAL value of the Presidency, yes? That a Spring White House wedding is something we ALL share in, even those of us who didn''t vote for him?

And now we have Crawford. Why not next year, when Jenna is just another citizen? With this choice of locale, Bush has made it plain to all of us: he is not one of us. He distains our cities, our values, our various cultures (outside Texas), to the extent that he''d no sooner let his daughter get married in ''America'' than marry her to OBL. This is a tremendous ''lost opportunity'' to ordinary Americans, fierce critics though they are of Bush, to participate in one of the innocent splendors of his being President of these United States for 8 years. And, as with everything else, he blew it... he just didn''t care enough...

Bush has claimed from the start that he''s NOT from Washington, but when he got elected, whether he liked it or not, he was OUR president, the American president. What is up with all the hateful rhetoric? I took a couple of ol boys who really wanted to fight it out in front of their crowd and we went out into the country. I made sure neither one of them were armed with weapons, told them if they hated each other that much, get after it. I told them I wouldn''t tell which one if any actually won the fight. If one got the other one down to a severe disadvantage, the fight would be over. You know, there wasn''t a fight and that was the last time I or anyone I knew heard of their great hostility. Kinda like the gangbangers. I really think we should put them in a 100 ft. walled stadium with concrete over the roof, give them all weapons and let them get after at. The losers go to the morgue and winners stay there so as to protect rest of society. So much for a good idea. chill out a little. Help your blood pressure.
