There is probaly some guy out cheating on his wife right now almost everywhere. (not polygamy though)
I don''t agree with any of this but its none of my business. I think the modest dress is far superior to the *** style we have adopted for most modern U.S. culture. There was a time when all women and men were dressed in less revealing ways. I don''t think anyone forced them into doing it. We have been brain washed into thinking *** more revealing is better. Is it?
Let''s get the Muslims next, just to make it fair.

These people don''t understand that when the first man and woman were naked. Then I would question about them, becasue what is the deal about skin. We as people in this country seen porn or people we went out with naked. There no point why we need to worry about showing skin. If god made us different and had Adam and Eve naked when they saw each other than why we can''t see everyone that we should that god see''s as us. There rules about having kids and age. It sounds like you have a no choice for what kind of women you can marry, or have ***. We as people need to understand that we have a choice to dress and look. People look different or same, but people have the choice to pick what kind of shirt they want to wear. Does it matter a girl wearing a tan top and showing. No it is not, because our country said to the people that you have the choice to wear anything you want on private or pulbic. But a church ruling a life, I think that you can''t think for yourself, because I can make my own choice who can go out with, get married and have ***, wearing clothing, eat, work, think, and choose to have my own house. That what the country we have and we love our country for freedom. I don''t like limits on my personal things or my personal life. I beleive in god and what he does, but control people, then join the nazis or the Russains. They may want you for there church and rape there women. Even join Hitler''s group and him in hell for gay time.

The Amish and Dutch wear the same type of clothes for religious reasons, they don''t practice this sick polyigamy ***. It seems to me these women have no self esteem. If they would be allowed to have an education these men would not get away with this *****. Baby making factories, at the tax payers expense. Horse ***.

I am from Maine. I was in high school newport,,the teacher felt my skirt that were below the knee out of place..I went to class in pants..I was not allowed to wear anything that went against the mormon drees code..I was not a mormon but had to atted their meetings..I asked what is their dress code and I was handed a byu flyer on it..it is on the net now..did look it up..It has not changed much..I can understand the reason why..alot of it makes sense..I am old..I can see the reason why..As a ex mormon I really had no problem with the knee cut off limit..The covering of the under wear..the baggy /skin showing ones could not abide by it..I have shorts that go to my knee..thanks to the male baggy cut..they fit my female body..to the knee.

I was raised a strict Catholic & was educated in Catholic schools where the nuns/sisters taught some of the same "modesty" rules pertaining to dress & behaviors. It took me years as an adult to get comfortable wearing sleeveless blouses/dresses in the heat of summer because of the thorough indoctrination I received throughout my childhood & adolescents.I still remember wearing those hot uniforms (blazers & all)in the humid 90 degree heat of New England weather, also designed to wipe out any individual identity. I''ll never forget the leg inspections & scoldings if, God forbid, we ever dared to go bare legged (sans nylons). Fanatical, unhealthy-minded religious control freaks have been around for centuries folks.

Conservative Muslims have similar dress code. It suppresses individuality and free thinking. If taken one step further, lock up a person in a cage and control his every action and that person will go to heaven for sure. Guaranteed.

That line of dress code fits the mormons as well. What wearing the hair down is sexxual...never heard of shch a thing..My mormon foster mother forced mormonism on me against my will..I told her to shove the dress up her asre. Their dress code sucked..I cover my person as I sunburn..I horrifed at the skin the ladies show in public...the naked belly..I Can''t find clothes to fit me right..I will say this they are out of place in their granny dress. They can becoming by wearing a pretty blouse and skirt..I am small breasted and there are garments I can''t wear . I believe covering the body. the byu dress code in mormon so that will give ye the idea of what is/not worn..I am ex lds..

The Amish have similar restrictions on clothing, both for men and women and children, because they are trying to reduce the opportunity for vanity and for one person feeling ''superior'' to another. In effect, by reducing certain opportunities for self-expression, they are ''helping'' you to avoid the near ocassion of sin. Should we collect up all the Amish children because their parents won''t let them dress like Brittany Spears?

Part 2

As a free-thinking, free-choosing member of the LDS church, I have access to every idea, philosophy and belief I can get my hungry hands on. I passionately love the library and book stores where I can study the ideas/beliefs of others, and incorporate into my life those concepts I deem will make me a better, healthier, more loving/contributing person. And THAT''S what should be motivating the human race--and the men and women tragically trapped in any twisted polygamist sect-LOVE-not FEAR-LOVE and SERVICE to their fellowman. If these women truly loved the people with whom they come in contact, they wouldn''t fear someone who dresses less modestly than they do-they would LOVE them-no matter what!

Anyway, that''s my take on things. Happy to hear yours!

Part 1

I''m a member of the LDS church (not the FLDS-perish the thought!). And, by the way, we don''t practice polygamy-haven''t for a century).

Back to the subject at hand. The only way this polygamist sect could get these women to conform to such a narrow standard of dress is through sequestering and indoctrinating them--which they have over generations of time. If they had any access to free thought, free choice, or free communion with the human race this conformist style of dress simply wouldn''t be a part of their reality. I''m sure I''m not the only one who has compared their pioneer outfits with the burqas Muslim women have been taught/forced to wear for centuries in countries where men and women fear sexually arousing the men (Read "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali) And men are controlling what these polygamist women wear, how they "style" their hair, what they''re allowed to say and think, and when they will get married (even if it violates common rules of human decency). But what a RUSH for these polygamist men to have so much control over their women! Nevertheless, these women are undoubtedly taught to "submit" to their husbands-by their husbands(Period. End of story.)no matter WHAT they are being told to do.(Bible concepts are easy to twist if you''re twisted.)

So when did a dress code begin within the U.S.?
They obviously don''t want to dress like any of us either.
I suppose The Pentacostals will be chosen next?

Sounds quite similar to Muslims. Just curious though, why doesn''t anyone write about the clothing of Hasidic Jews. It is just as restrictive, especially for the men and boys. I also don''t think the dresses are drab. I actually think there is something pretty about them, especially compared to the *** *** style of our generation of women and girls. It''s getting sickening just to look at American women. So many are either trashy or fat. Having said that, this mormon sect is very much a cult that practices extreme mind control over the women and, as such, is illegal and immoral but we should be taking a look at Muslims in America as well and make sure they aren''t doing the same thing.
