- Wow, you are really compassionate, aren''''t you?? Let''''s not forget this little girl is DYING. She is not going to get better, she is not going to be around when her father gets out of prison! He should be able to spend time with her NOW... she does not have much time left.

How dare you accuse me of not being compassionate. I commented on the bias of this article. I''m not saying that he shouldn''t be let out. But there are laws and rules. They are there for a reason. They requested a thirty day leave and it was denied. He was already let out on three separate occasions. That doesn''t mean that he won''t be granted leave of some sort. Are all laws and order in society supposed to be uprooted because someone is dying? This is not a perfect world that we live in. If her father hadn''t put drugs before his daughter she wouldn''t be in this situation. - Reply to this comment
- I don''t care if the guy had been out three times - it''s the kid''s wish that matters - she''s the one who''s not going to be around - he can go back and finish his four months when she''s gone. This is one where there''s only one answer - compassion.

- We have become a TOTALLY f%u2019ed up society!!! In the first place, 5 years for Drugs? A non-violent offense? And we have the nerve to criticize other countries for their "barbaric" laws? Now we have this tragic situation where this sick, scared little girl wants her daddy and the "powers that be", smugly and defiantly say "No". WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?

- The CBS headline should read, father not let out of prison for a fourth time for a thirty day leave.

- the father should certainly be allowed to see her and spend as much time as possible with her before she goes. Talk to the chaplain at the correctional institution. My oldest son was incarcerated when his grandmother died and the chaplain was able to get my son to the funeral home (about a 4 hour drive one way) to visit before her burial.

- If the man were jailed for violence towards others, I would be in favor of denying the girl''''s request. But I agree with gunownerdan - non-violent drug offenders don''''t need to be incarcerated anyway. All that accomplishes is granting freedom to a violent individual or a pedophile so that a drug user can have his/her bed and spot in the prison factory.

We need to be careful with the term "non-violent drug offenders" If one were to sell smack or meth to your your 14 year old kid and the kid went out & committed violent acts upon others or died from taking the smack or meth, do you think that dealer should just get a pass and not do any jail time? And anyone that knows dealers knows that without real consequences they will not stop dealing because it involves: not having to work for a living, make more money in a couple hours than most folks do in a day (or a week depending on his connections) and having thier lifestyle pay for thier drug habit. Pot seems to be a different story, but most of the others lead to one of three places: hospital, jail or the grave. - Reply to this comment
- This little girl needs her father - please don''t make her suffer in pain physically and mentally. She deserves some peace and to be content. This is an extradinary case. Please help the family.
