good for them but what about the thousands upon thousands of others across the nation? do they get a free college education too? what about free trade school training? millions are homeless and some have been for a while now. don't get how obama could spend one billion to overthrow qaddafi but not a cent for our nation's homeless. don't get it at all.
Is this what America has become: full of vile, hateful, resentful, spiteful, bitter, selfish, and thankless individual's who post their negative and self-loathing comments about two young children who have experienced more in their short lives than the negative posters will in their entire life times. I watched the interview with these children and not once did they have a mean or unpleasant thought or comment about America. They aren't even adults yet. They make all of you look very small and I am embarrassed for you.
What concerns me, though, is that there always seem to be these "high profile" cases (usually when they get reported about on national media), which sets up a situation where some organization steps in and gets to play the "hero." But Arielle and Austin are just two out of the many thousands of children in the exact same situation in American today.
What is being done about the many-thousands-minus-two?
There are sure a few jealous people on here posting. They just hate the thought these kids are getting a helping hand so they got nothing better to do then to find fault and trash them.
So is Stetson University going to let them park their truck out back? Yes a college education is a great gift but if you ask me these people need a home and they need a home now...not a college education years from now. Stetson University must have known that since they also gave the kids Stetson University sweatshirts to what...keep warm on those chilly nights? Get real Stetson University and do the right thing, give that family dorm rooms to stay in if you want to be sooooo generous.
These teens were wise beyond their years. It is hoped they will see their lives take a turn for the better in the near term. They are making every effort to get the education that will improve their chances for a better life and are a credit to a dad hard hit in this economy. Congratulations for sticking together, for the commitments you have made to make the most of a difficult situation. And congratulations to Stetson for extending a helping hand.
Never heard of Stetson University. The question would then be......does this school offer degrees of real benefit, in the fields of interest to the kids?
On the other hand, a degree from someplace, might be better than no degree at all.
This is the real meaning of Christmas. What a wonderful resolution to the story of those kids. I've lived in a truck and I'm glad my kids never had to. Merry Christmas to everyone.
