Comments on: Kin: "Jon & Kate" Kids Being "Exploited"
Her Brother And Sister-in-law Call For Laws Protecting Children In Reality Shows
- Anybody that exposes innocent children to mass media to the extent the Gosselins have, ought to have their heads examined! The children did not choose this....the parents did, and it has become a HUGE money-making machine at the expense of the well being of the children. Pull the plug for God's sake! If the Gosselins would take the money they have made thus far, invest it wisely, they could live comfortable, ORDINARY lives. Kate is doing this for her own self serving satisfaction--not the kids. To have a child call you by a nanny's name is a good example of how much she has been absent from the home and the children have been under the care of a non-parent! I'VE HAD ENOUGH ALREADY!!

- If you spent all day blogging about this, you were exploiting the kids.
It took up your time, it entertained you, so the guilt is here as well as with the parents, the network and the viewers.
By posting this I am guilty of exploiting them, but at least I am pleading guilty and not trying to cop a plea. - Reply to this comment
- The fact is, Jon and Kate are wealthy and famous because they gave birth to 8 kids and have never held real jobs for any length of time. THIS IS CHILD EXPLOITATION!!!
IF YOU DON?T WORK AND MAKE MONEY BY FILMING YOUR KIDS BEING POTTY-TRAINED, IT'S EXPLOITATION!!
Jon and Kate need to get jobs like the rest of us. They need to support their kids, not the other way around.
HOW CAN THEY BE TRUSTED TO MAKE THE BEST DECISIONS FOR THESE KIDS WHEN THE KIDS PAID FOR THAT MANSION?
WAKE UP PEOPLE, IT?S 2009, CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE TREATED LIKE ZOO ANIMALS. - Reply to this comment
- My main focus is on Jon and Kate...I believe 100% that Kate exploits her children for the fame and fortune. Life isn't all about money and how dare they continue this show, especially in the condition their family is in. Contract or not...they need to end the series.

- I have watched the show since the beginning. I may not agree with everything they do but I don't think the children are suffering - they have actually discussed having cameras around and they say the children think it's normal since the cameras have been there since they were babies.
It's amazing that Jodi makes the comments about "caring for the children" when she was on the show many many times and also had her own children on.
Sour grapes.
SInce the show is all the rage now CBS wanted to add to their rating so naturally they had Jodi and Kevin on but Kevin didn't look like he wanted to be there and Jodi did most of the talking. - Reply to this comment
- I do not watch Jon and Kate plus 8 often, but do live in PA, so knew when the sextuplets where born. Jon and Kate were up against the wall when the babies where born. They made a choice to support themselves and therefore the children, in the reasonable way. They have been very successful, quietly, building a future for their family. In the last year all heck has broken loose. Maybe they have made some mistakes, but I truly believe they are good people and good for their children. For Kate?s family to attack them publicly is not acceptable, whoever this Aunt Jodie and her husband is, please a cork in it, because you are looking very bad and making a lot of people including myself disgusted. You are not believable in the least; you appear to be on a revengeful path, for whatever reason. This method of helping the children is not effective, so if that is truly your goal, try a different path, one that shows love, compassion, consideration. To be upset with what Kate and Jon have gotten, show absolutely no integrity and is very dysfunctional in itself. Work on yourself and your family. If you do not like Kate and Jon do not talk to them, but to try to undermine them, their livelihood, and therefore the children?s future, is appalling.

- I do agree with many that you have better stories to report and don't forget you are one of the networks exploiting these poor children, which they don't need at the moment considering their parents poor actions and choices.
I"m commenting simply to applaud Kevin and Jodi. So far no one has stood up for the kids, not even Kate....so to have someone on their side is fantastic. There should be more people trying to pass a law against this exploition.
CBS, consider the damage that you are helping to create for these 8 innocent children. - Reply to this comment
- Imagine if they hadn't done the show. They would be a family of 10 on a minimal budget, which alone will cause fighting and problems between the parents and amongst the children. These children would never have gotten even a fraction of the opportunities they've been given. If you remember, they were both working and Kate was picking up double shifts on the weekends in the early seasons. The kids would have never seen their mother if that had continued. Someone mentioned Kates OCD. I think it's great. I've seen many homes with two and three kids that are nothing more than filthy madhouses (and Mom's got no excuse!!). Kate's got a house of 8 kids that is always together for the most part and clean! And yes, their mairage needs some rekindling. This is normal though. Whether they had the 8 children they now have or the 3 they were shooting for, they would have problems. It's normal for a maraige with aging children and changing parental roles to need a little help. And they'll have some time for that rekindling very soon. The kids start school in the fall.

- I've never left a comment before. I do hope a producer is reading this. CBS used to be called the Tiffany Network. Whats happened? Where is your integrity? Several years ago Dan Rather was forced to resign over not checking sources. Now its okay? The Kneiders did not get paid for being on the show. They video posted it over the internet. I didn't see that in your interview. For a news organization to use the practices of US Weekly or New York Post to exploit a family for the sake of ratings is disgusting. Get back to business of reporting the news.

- I've read some comments that Jodi and Kevin are speaking up for the Gosselin Eight because they've been paid to do so. I do not care if they were paid to speak up for these children. Kate and Jon (exploit their eight) have exploited their kids for millions. So what if Jodi and Kevin get a few thousand dollars. They were able to get the airtime on a major network to discuss the exploitation of the Gosselin Eight something we "regular" people can't do. I don't care about Jon, Kate or their marriage. I care about the kids. Don't you?
Julia Roberts fights to protect her children; Kate Gosselin exploits hers.
BTW - Kate, those were embryos on the ultrasound screen, not lotto numbers! - Reply to this comment
- With friends like you, who needs enemies? When you see your loved ones in trouble or hurting you should try to help them. Not try to make their situation worse. I think it is clear that Aunt Jodi is just as dominating over her husband as Kate is of Jon. Shame on you Jodi for publically hurting your family member. Shame on you Kevin for supporting Jodi in this evil endeavor.

- WHY DON'T KEVIN AND JODI SPEAK FOR ALL THE CHILDREN ON TLC (NOT JUST THE GOSSELIN'S) WHO ARE BEING EXPLOITED AS THEY SAY? TABLE FOR 12? THE DUGGARS?
They are a bunch of hypocrites! - Reply to this comment
- I seriously cannot believe that there are people out there who bought the drama with Jody and Kevin this morning. She is a control freak and her pious fake concern for the kids was a total act. She has had her nose out of joint ever since Kate got rid of her because she wanted to be paid for being on camara. There must be some seriously gullible people out there who bought that crock of crap. The worst is behind them now. The kids are off to school in the fall and that will give Jon and Kate time to spend together and maybe sort out some feelings. They have a beautiful home and 8 healthy kids and now it's time for them to spend time with each other and rekindle what they had 5 years ago. Jody and Kevins motives are so self serving. I can't believe they would get on national TV and air their differences instead of working it out as a family. It doesn't say much for their character. I guess people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

- Unfortunately, there probably does need to be a law put into effect preventing the exploitation of children via tv shows. Kind of makes you wonder...if I want fame and fortune, perhaps I should take a bunch of fertility meds and try for 12 kids and then call tlc? It's a shame that there are millions of children already in existance who need loving homes and people take fertility meds- that's the real stupidity. But I digress. I think it's good that Kevin & Jodi are speaking out. Kate is a sad individual who I feel sorry for, and I can't blame Jon for wanting out. Hopefully some good will come out of all this mess for the kids.

- Kuddos to Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin for standing up for the Gosselin children. Double kuddos to Harry Smith and CBS for the interview with Jodi and Kevin. I wondered how long it would take for family or close family friends to stand up for these eight little, voiceless, innocent - seriously, horribly exploited children.
I can understand how a documentary turned into eight episodes. But i can't, for the life of me, understand how eight episodes turn into 40 sideshow circus episodes. Who besides those benefiting financially, thought this was a good idea for the children?
Jodi and Kevin, please continue to do whatever you can to get the message out there that these children are being exploited. Do not stop. The day will come when the children will thank you. - Reply to this comment
- I completely agree with everything Jodi & Kevin are saying about the kids and them being used etc I do believe that intially the show was ok but the fame & fortune has gone to Jon & Kate's heads and they are not truely doing what is best for the kids. BUT I do not agree with Jodi & Kevingoing on TV & talking about this, it seems like they are doing exaclty what they say Jon & Kate are doing....exploiting this kids.

- You should be ashamed of yourselves Jodi and Kevin! Jon and Kate need the love and support of their friends and family right now. You have proven that you are neither to the both of them! And CBS, you should be ashamed of yourselves for having this couple on your show. I'm sickened by all of this. Do you actually think that your actions this morning will help Jon and Kate and their family out?

- Totally miserable situation. NOt fun to watch, AT ALL. Used to be an oasis in the ocean of poop that tv is nowadays. But alas its been consumed. I suppose it was doomed from the start. Jon & Kate are too young and pretty (read: immature and self absorbed) to have withstood the pressures of voracious Hwood and its contractual obligations and super-driven producers. At least they've got people praying for them - their only hope now.
I just hope other tv families like them, or would-be's out there really stop and take note and consider their own survival strategy, preferably before they sign on the dotted line(s). Or one day they'll be on the list of those that look back and say it wasnt worth it (as they watch their children crumble in their teens).
Off subject (sort of).. Isnt it just totally fascinating how these kinds of things always illicit such ultra-polar-opposite opinoins in blogs? Amazing how we can all hear the exactly same things.. watch exactly the same footage, etc... and come away with such vastly different viewpoints. Now there is something to stop and think about. We are all soooo biased based upon our personal experiences. The comments (from various sources, not just here) go the gamut of utter naivete to lip-smaking glee to super-vicious bitterness. We really belie the conditions of our own hearts and souls by what we say about others. This is exactly why J&K+8 have to focus on their own issues and COMPLETELY filter out all the opinions, such as those here in this blUGH (I mean blog). - Reply to this comment
- Kate will never stop, she likes the money too much. If you have watched previously Jon has said on numerous occasions he would like to quit, but she won't let him. If she quits there is no more freebies, vacations etc.

- I have a couple of comments. I never really watched the show very much until this past weekend. My 13-year old daughter was fascinated with a couple of the little ones, and watched it often, and she and her friends talked about their favorite babies.
I know that many of those who are judging Kate and Jon for their decision to expose their children to the cameras would do the same thing under similar circumstances. I have noticed that some believe these 6 children were purposely conceived...which is not the case. They wanted one, but chose not to play God and choose which of the 6 they would "eliminate". A choice I personally admire. I can't imagine what must have gone through their minds trying to figure how to support 8 children...and they are most certainly the type of parents who will expect great things, including college. Daunting expenses.
I do believe, after intently watching the "marathon" this weekend that Kate wasn't nice to Jon. She needs to work on her OCD, and THEY need to work on their marriage.
But to judge them for past decisions...I believe is (1) pointless, and (2) self serving for those of you who believe YOU know best. - Reply to this comment
