Miss Rhode Island And A Former Miss USA On Real Reasons Her Crown Is In Jeopardy
- molies74621: I know that Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pageant organization but there should be state and federal laws and organizational rules about it that he should have to live by and abide by, too.

- The whole Miss USA pageant organization needs to be investigated! There needs to be a shakedown of it from top to bottom because the whole thing is corrupt!

I agree with you but the Pageant is now privately owned, by Donald Trump. He will do what will bring him the most money and support regardless of the opinion. - Reply to this comment
- There was nothing wrong with expressing the opinion at the contest as she did!
If there was anything wrong, it was with state (?) pageant officials who paid for a b*o*o*b job for her prior to the national contest. And, she violated the morals clause of her contract by posing for---at the minimum---semi-nude pictures that were displayed on the internet!
She's tainted herself! The pageant would be best served by instilling the second-runner up in her place and dropping it---while the pageant has ANY credibility left at all!
I think leaving her as runner-up truly damages any credibility the pageant has remaining!
It better do a better job screening contestants prior to the next contest before it places itself
on the "endangered" event list! - Reply to this comment
- If she loses her crown she should sue every Miss USA pageant official in the whole organization from Donald Trump right on down to the bottom, and least paid one! Her constutional right of freedom of speech has been violated!
First of all she was asked a question that should never have been allowed to be asked! That kind of question should never be allowed in any pageant! She gave her answer and she gave it with intelligence and dignity and grace but she just didn't give the answer that they wanted!
She gave a honest conservative Christian answer and that was not the answer they wanted. They wanted her to lie and say that she thought gay marriages should be legal. That is exactly why she lost the pageant. She was penalized because of her Christian answer and she has been criticized and every gay activist in the country has been out to get her and bring her down ever since! It's crazy! It's just as though we don't have freedom of speech in this country anymore! She has a right to her opinion people! The constitution also gives her the right to voice her opinion without being penalized for it!
I know she should have told the truth about those pictures but that isn't why she lost the competition. She lost because of her answer. It's that simple! Also I don't think she's the only contestant in the Miss USA pageant, past or present, that has lied about having pictures like that in her past! I know of only one, Vanessa Williams, who lost her crown because of pictures like these. I believe there are many more who have pictures like these in their "closet". Why is Miss Prejean singled out?

- She has a right to her opinion, she shouldn't have to go against her beliefs just because other people don't agree. They sure were right when they said that Christians will be condemned for their beliefs, but only the ones that hang fast to them will be rewarded in the end.

The girl just anwered what is right and her value. wife and wife for the ladies, husband and husband for the men. The US constution says what marriage is..a man and woman.

- You cannot be a public figure AND a bigot. Doesn't work! Most people support gay marriage. She should have given a neutral answer if nothing else. Now she wants to be some big-shot anti-gay activist? Sore loser, that's what I say.

See that is where you are wrong in making a broad generalization. Most Americans DO NOT support gay marriage, but I guess misqouting facts to back up a beliefe is the norm these days. You can view the polls on omni liberal MSNBC if you do not believe the statement that most Americans DO NOT support gay marriage. - Reply to this comment
- Just because someone believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman does'nt make them a bigot. She stood up for her beliefs and there is nothing wrong with that. I don't see any homosexuals in danger of losing thier job for fighting for thier right to marry. Not taking sides, just making a point.

- Quote Sebastian Michael: "Bottom line: You cannot be a public figure AND a bigot. Doesn't work! Most people support gay marriage."
So everyone who is married is a bigot then? Only reason most people "support" gay marriage is that they don't want to be openly labeled a bigot by people like you. It is far easier to tow the party line by being political correct then it is to stand up for what is right. I seriously doubt that someone like you has any clue about what I am talking about because you?ve never stood against something because it was the right thing to do.
Quote Sebastian Michael: "She should have given a neutral answer if nothing else. Now she wants to be some big-shot anti-gay activist? Sore loser, that's what I say. "
So what?s next, folks like you going to tell the rest of us what to say, what to wear, what to think. Only in California would a contestants merit by judged by a loaded question, where everyone expects the same politically correct answer. This sort of situation is what our country was founded against and it?s why the first settlers left England!!!
As for gay rights... Sure they should have them, but only in-so far as a "legal union" is concerned. This is due mostly to taxes and other civil functions that can only be performed by someone legally related to another individual.
Now outright marriage, this is a touchy subject because it undermines the union between a man and a woman is about. I can tell you that the moment gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states, most marriages wont be worth the paper they?re printed on. Pretty much anyone can contest a marriage at that point, citing the fact that it's no longer a union between an man and woman. The number of women that would be abandoned in this manor will make the current divorce rate seam trivial in comparison. But hey what do you care? just so long as you can live under the false pretence of marriage, screw everybody else. - Reply to this comment
- PCLAND:
1. To give your legal advice in missions of great national defense , you have to have the ACLU clear it first, or suffer law suits and trouble later.
2. To give an answer on gay marriage ( same one that more than 55 % of CAlifornia voted the same, and even the Pres Obama supported ) you must get your head right with the GLT community.
All I am saying is that we have lost our ability to have freedom of speech in America 2009. - Reply to this comment

- Maybe it's on of those great ironies in life, that the judges of the Miss California pageant are mostly gay. Maybe the "men" and i use that word loosely here, will be signing up to compete in next years pageant. I can only hope that they'll then be judged by women and shown the same level of politically correct discrimination.

- And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Posted by gold_standard at 5:38 PM : May 11, 2009
That description is actually not of an actual woman but of a place. Supposedly the richest country or city in the world. She is called a harlot because this place will get into bed with anyone (business wise) to make a buck. Whoever this country or city represents, her traits are that she is successful in her wars, rarely suffers many casualties in war or disasters (as compared o other countries) and her liasons have made most merchants around the world rich--She is called the wh,ore of Babylon not because she is from Babylon (babylon is the ancient name of Iraq) but because she is known by her exploits in Babylon.
so for all intents and purposes, many believe the wh.ore of Babylon is actually NYC or the USA. Incidentally, Revelations 18 states that his place will be destroyed by God in the space of 1 hour due to her not ever being sorry about her killing others in war...
but that can't be us, right? After all, the USA is very, very sorry for invading Iraq and causing the death, injury and torture of hundreds of thousands of people...right? - Reply to this comment
- The racy pictures of Prejean probably aren't a factor in Prejean's fate, Castonguay said, noting, "Those pictures weren't published. If those pictures were never published of me in Maxim I don't know if I would have came forward with them, you know, and let them know that there were pictures out there. I wouldn't have thought that they would ever be published."
what a completely and utterly AIRHEAD answer, Of course they would be published, /the whole point of disclosure is to not let the pageant get hit between the eyes with unknown porno or other activities that would besmirch the pageant's name. Racy photos--would MOST DEFINITELY be published after a contestant won--after all, with the fame of Miss America comes big bucks--not just for the winner--but for anyone who can sell any information on that winner. The more lurid the info--the more it is worth.
So Miss Rhode Island...we now uderstand why you were not fit to be the winner--you lack critical thinking skills. - Reply to this comment
- No matter what her personal beliefs, as someone who sought to represent all people of California and ultimately of the entire United States, she could have tempered her remarks so that, while reflecting her own preference, others were not then excluded from having their own beliefs.
Plus, she could have then refrained from moaning and groaning and complaining and crying that she didn't win. She could have further refrained from blaming that loss on those she had already excluded from her lofty cloud-like abode.
Then she could have stayed off the Right-wing talk show circuit. (Which is against the rules of the contest she was gritching about having already lost.)
Then she could have said, "oops. I lied on the application of the contest . . . . which I had already lost."
Finally, she could have stopped long before she blamed it ALL on those gay people. - Reply to this comment
- Equal rights is equal rights, but homosexuality is different. Respect for them is defined by one's unconditional support of, and endorsement of, their lifestyle, which practiciing Christians find abhorrent. The Bible calls it abomination.
Some in this section have criticized the Bible and said the Bible says things it does not say. I would challenge you to find one other book written over a 1500 year span by writers from nearly every walk of life, with the kind of support for its accuracy over thousands of years of transmission using archaic methods. I'll save you a trip. You won't find it.
So Miss California is punished because she doesn't hold to the politically correct positon about homosexual marriage. Homosexual rights advocates have been screaming for years about the right of free expression. These people seem incredibly silent in Miss Callifornia's defense.
But if you know these people, this is typical. In Austin, TX in 1989 there was a big homosexual rally that included a mock trial of their opposition. Every conservative Christian who had any position was included like Rush Limbaugh, Phyllis Schlafly, Jesse Helms, and the state director of AFA, who invited homosexuals with AIDS into his home where he cared for them. You guessed it. This young man was cursed by the homosexual militants along with the other Christians. His crime? He did not agree with their lifestyle. Tolerance? So much for that sermon. If you doubt this event occurred, CBS, you know who I am because you have my registration info for this board. Just contact me. I have the tapes to prove it. - Reply to this comment

- By the way, the Bible also says that women who wear red are harlots and should be stoned to death.

Where?
I looked up every reference to harlots in the Bible and this is the closest passage, although I would not say it claims women wearing red are harlots. This is yet another example of people twisting words to attack.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. - Reply to this comment
