Because the American people are having such a hard time just making ends meet and as we tighten our budgets I feel that the First Lady of the United States should be aware of this and not wear $500.00 shoes to walk the dog. OMG I voted for this pair, 265 days and counting>

Barak Obama may only be half white, but his wife is all black. If you're from the 'hood, you may not have two nickels to rub together, but you'll steal your momma's food stamps to get yourself a pair of $200 Nikes. Real African-American folk wouldn't be caught dead on the street wearing a pair of chump sneakers. It's not a racial thing. It's just cultural.

+ report

Really how is this, for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country. Obviously the reason behind this statement was that her husband was in front of the Democratic race. She surely wouldnt have said it if Hillary was in front.

Your comments are strong and correct.Yes, I disagreed with BushII, not BushI, yet I didn't make my negative comments public. My conclusion is our country allows freedom of speech, so if you have something to say, whether positive or negative, express it, because letting it linger will only cause frustration.

Who cares if Michelle Obama's stylish Lanvin sneakers cost over $500.00. If I could afford them, I would have them myself. She didn't take the money from the American People to purchase them. We have a lot more important issues to deal with in our world than have to worry about what our wonderful First Lady paid for a pair of "just shoes".

President Obama has NEVER been a "regular" person. He was raised by his white grandparents and his grandmother was the Vice President at a bank....It is a FACT that Presdient Obama went to one of the most elitist high schools in the country. Haven't you read his books????? When Obama was young, he was with his mother when she worked at a foreign embassy.......He had access to the books in the library at the embassy........and everything else at the embassy. If THAT is how he had to pull himself up by his bootstraps, I'll eat my hat. Such propaganda in regards to as who these people really are. Dream on! Someone that REALLY was a regular person would not wear $500.00 shoes to a homeless center. .........................Yes, the Obama's seem to go along with Antoinette's LET THEM EAT CAKE! No different than Nancy Reagon, etc

Maggie Rodriguez, what you pay for your shoes is your business. If you want pay-less or pay-more, that's your business.

For all of you criticizing Michelle Obama for THE PRICE that SHE PAID for HER sneakers, shame on you. She didn't ask you for a dime! The same applies to you that I said to Ms. Rodriquez,: what you pay for your sneakers, shoes, boots, or your clothes IS YOUR BUSINESS!

taryder, the Obama's are REGULAR people, regardless of their recent or current salaries. THEY WORKED HARD to amass what they have. By the way, instead of using the allotted budget to redecorate the People's House, i.e. The White House, the Obama's are using THEIR OWN FUNDS! taryder and the rest of you judgmental folks , complain about that!

This complaint and the rest of the ridiculous complaints about Michelle Obama need to stop! Remember, when you point your finger at someone, THREE are pointing back at you!

What's wrong with you people? Don't you people get that the first lady's ridiculously expensive sneakers are none of your business?

Surely the subtle waging of class warfare isn't what's irritating your, nor could it be the the obvious disregard for thrift or practicality. Spend, spend, spend! That's the new American way!

And of course, it's not as if these were purchased using taxpayer dollars... or with dollars freed up by taxpayers' dollars covering some of the Obamas' other everyday expenses... right??

Now, shut up and go back to eating your cake! For I have spoken!

Sincerely,
Marie Antoinette

First it was that she was not wearing too much "average American clothes" and not enough "high end fashion". Now the press is carping about her sneakers. What morons.

<Tsk> <Tsk> How DARE she wear pricey sneakers!! (She should instead be wearing that $10,000 red leather jacket that Sarah Palin purchased with GOP campaign donations!!)

I just saw the piece on Michelle Obama's shoes on CBS. The shoes on the coffee table was hilarious. I for the life of me cannot understand how a pair of $540 shoes worn by the US first lady can create "news".

Seriously, we are talking about the wife of the president of the United States of America, the largest economic and military power in the world.

These types of nonsense scrutiny really does little for the American people. It just shows that some people in that country are focusing on the wrong things. How do they have the time? Isn't there a H1N1 influenza outbreak and an economic recession that Americans need to focus on? Those issues will not be solved by Michelle Obama wearing cheaper shoes.

Grow up guys. And please please, how about some professional journalism instead.

The Obama's have NEVER been regular people. For anyone to believe that people that make $250,000. a year should be elgible for tax breaks.....THAT!!! alone let's one KNOW the Obama's are not in touch with regular people, or poor people for that matter.
There are so many things that are made-up, media hype, advertising propaganda at its very best. And it worked!
