Look for toys, especially plastic toys, with abnormally shiny paint on them, almost metallic (just like the picture). There is no good reason to use lead except to make the paint more shiny and attractive to kids.

I think what most people don''t realize is that it isn''t only China that has lead in stuff. I live in Canada where lead is banned. My daughter worked for a woman who made ceramics and stuff and she used to cross the border into the U.S. to get some of her glazes. The reason was that she wanted glazes that were brighter in color cause she couldn''t get them here. The brighter color was because of the lead that was in them.

I have one of the frankenstein cups and my children have been using it. I called the doctor and was told that it needed to be on the recall list for my kids to get tested. What should I do?" Posted by tutkill at 11:15 AM : Oct 29, 2007

If you just bought the cup, take it back. If it is old, throw it out. Then take your kid to be tested.

"3. Poison younger generations of Americans with lead in order to make them brain damaged enough that they would believe anything we say to them!" posted by USAyesterday

Obviously they have been doing it for a number of years, otherwise we would have stopped all things made in China from entering the country. The fact that one day they recall a particular thing, and then a week later another, is PATHETIC. People are already braindead, they should be recalling EVERYTHING.

And finally, my last comment on the subject......
It''s not bad enough that we have to check the Ingerdients & Nutrition Facts of the things we eat to prevent Self Poisioning, if we''re smart we need to check the Country Of Origan of everything we buy now! I shop @ two of the biggest culprets of my outrages, Walmart & Sams. Our home improvement outlets are falling to the lower standards as well. Does anybody have knowledge of alternatives for the above with MADE IN AMERICA products & equal prices? If you do it''s probably a regional chain of stores that will fall pray to the buy outs our government has allowed foreign investors to make in our countries assets & resources, including our sea, land & air ports. It''s no wonder our All Mighty Dollar isn''t so All Mighty any more!! I mentioned political agendas before & I''d like to slip these issues of buying back our country, the manufacturing of the pruducts we use on our own soil & brining back the Buy American philosphy as topics also. Chew on that all of you peolple who live with the blinders on & are out there without a clue!!

This makes perfect sense. If American kids are made more stupid due to lead poisoning, they will more docile to the Chinese rulers twenty years from now.

One of the worst outlets for the worst of the not mentioned, or yet to be, is the many different Dollar Stores. AOL ran an article not long ago named Good Buy, Bad Buy (or simular) & toys were on the list of Bad Buys for obvius reasons. My daughter bought a plastic sack of Party Favors (mostly spiders & asorted bugs) & the have a strong petroleum smell to them. Guess where they were made.....you got it......
China! I agree with several other readers, that this should be, in some way, shape or form a polital agenda item & the sollution should be to bring the manufacturing & assembly of products we use the most of back home to the GOOD OL US OF A!!!

I too have one of those Frankenstien cups. When I bought it, I also purchased a skeleton cup and a witch cup. All 3 look to be from the same manufacturer, like they''re a set. Not that I''m going to use any of them ever again, but just want to know if any testing has been done on any of the other cups?
