I''''m a guy with extremely simple tastes and have never cared for "exotic" foods (anything that isn''''t fried and covered with ketchup or tomato paste).

When I first got married (long, long ago), my new bride (now my crazy ex) was all frantic because there was no meat for dinner. (we only had one car and I used it to go to work & back)

She couldn''''t believe that I didn''''t care and was more than happy to have beans & potatoes for dinner.

Which I consider a fine meal so long as they are fried and covered in ketchup. . .

I''m not into "exotic" food either. I grew up eating potatoes, vegetables and meat.

Now I will also eat spaghetti.:) I do eat some other things, like beans, salads and stuff.

It''''s been years since I''''ve seen anyone cook a turkey, but if I recall correctly, it was baked in an oven with all kinds of junk in the pan with it.

And, I would never bother attempting to cook a turkey since it isn''''t worth the trouble. I like all the veggies that go with turkey dinners, but I don''''t care for turkey (or chicken).

I don''t know how everyone cooks a turkey down there, but I don''t put anything other than he turkey in the pan. If I cook a roast beef, I might put potatoes, carrots and onions around it.

So you only like beef? What about fish?

I don''''t know what tofu is but it sounds nasty.

I have a big meal planned: frozen pizza!!!

Tombstone original crust pepperoni.

I may spice it up a bit by slopping ketchup or barbecue sauce all over it. . .

Pizza with ketchup and barbecue sauce. MMMMMM sounds nummy.

You don''t know what Tofu is? Tofu is what Vegans and Vegetarians eat. My daughters used to eat it. It''s disgusting. It''s like a white block of cheese. I think its made with soy beans. It''s packaged in liquid and it'' kind of spongey (sp?) I guess "nasty" kind of covers it.:)

So, tucker, are you going to cook a Thanksgiving dinner? Minus the turkey?

How in the world do you manage to cook while you are upside down?

Posted by tuckerndfw at 09:03 PM : Nov 25, 2008

Haha. I''m not talking about the person. I''m talking about the turkey! You cook it breast down. It makes it more moist. But then you already knew that, didn''t you?

Of course, the best way is to not buy a turkey in the first place.

Posted by tuckerndfw at 09:02 PM : Nov 25, 2008

I agree. People need to eat tofu for Thanksgiving.:)

The best way to cook a turkey is to tie him to a heavy post, place wood all around his feet and then set it ablaze.

You may need to replenish the kindling depending on how big the turkey is. . .

I''m getting the impression you like to hurt birds.
First you blow one up and now you are setting fire to one.

The GM genocide: Thousands of Indian farmers are committing suicide after using genetically modified crops.

When Prince Charles claimed thousands of Indian farmers were killing themselves after using GM crops, he was branded a scaremonger. In fact, as this chilling dispatch reveals, it''s even WORSE than he feared.''

This can happen to USA, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, NZ etc ---------------GM SEED USE MUST BE STOPPED.---------------------

Indian Ministry of Agriculture..confirms ..a HUGE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS, more than 1,000 farmers kill themselves each month!!!!!!!!

Prince Charles is setting up a charity, the Bhumi Vardaan Foundation, to help those affected and promote organic Indian crops instead of GM. India''s farmers are also starting to fight back. As well as taking GM seed distributors hostage and staging mass protests, one state government is taking legal action against Monsanto for the exorbitant costs of GM seeds.

Oh, and one more thing, do not,,,DO NOT suff your bird if you are going deep fry your turkey.

If you use a bread stuffing, it will soak up the oil, and you won''t like it. And it could have adverse effects if you use anything else.

In other words, it''s unsafe to do so....

I would suggest that, for those that are going to deep fry your turkey, Before you put your oil in, and to make sure that you do not overfill your pot with oil, do this first.

The day you''re going to cook, put your bird into your pot, then fill with water so that the bird is sufficiently covered, but way below the brim of the pot. Then, pull(take) your bird out, and observe where the water line is. That''s the amount of oil you will need. Of course you will want to do this before you season your turkey, and too, let it drain the excess water off too. Water will cause an explosion, of sorts, and cause hot grease to splatter over you and others. You''ll have plenty of time, while the oil is getting hot. 325-350 degrees.

Remember, if you just fill the pot up with oil, then drop the bird in,, it might overflow, and catch fire.
We don''t need that on Thanksgiving, so be safe.

Every year I read about such stories, or hear about them on the news.

I have seen the show about the Turkey-Making Secrets by three top chefs. About the "Cajun Fried Turkey" by Kent Rathbun, I would like to ask any details about the deep fryer used by Kent on that show.

If you could give me some details, it would be great.

Thanks

My sister deep fries a turkey every year with just the type bought from WalMart .... nothing fancy. She claims it is extremely easy which I would suspect since she is a non-cooker. Someone on the radio commented about this too saying this is better than baked. I''m a veggies only so can''t say from my own experience.
