- djeanne3 - you have got to be kidding. Age is not the issue here. Before Obama became prsident, Michelle was a corporate attorney making 275K a year. And she just turned 45 and her girls are 10 and 7. Get your facts straight.

- I think that if they could feed, clothe and care for these kids without public assistance, she would not have filed bankruptcy and walk away from payment on a home. To djeanne3 - it is not the responsibility of the older children to take care of the younger children. That is the mothers job.

- Someone else pointed out that they are probably Christian, not Muslim, judging by their first names Ed and Angela.

Many people from foreign lands take Christian names when they come here. I have lots of friends from Africa, the ME, Asia and C. America, they have the "American name" they want you to call them, but when asked, they will share their birth names. Often, those names are difficult to pronounce. - Reply to this comment
- "Infertility treatments are very very expensive. This is very strange. Is this woman planning to hand out the babies to other families? I really can''''t understand why someone with 6 children already would want anymore mouths to feed and care for. Now we learn the woman isn''''t married. This is beyond odd.

This is quite an interesting slant.
Maybe you are on to something and the baby daddy is not someone she knows or has slept with.
She is still insane. Or is it insanely rich now?

According to the family''s ex housekeeper, the girl confided that she was being PAID to have the babies and being PAID to go to school. Paid by who? - Reply to this comment
- Don''''t think she would have any problem having a child normally (since she had 6 within the last 7 years) the only reason she went for the fertility treatment is to be famous.
Posted by vamom3 at 06:09 PM : Jan 30, 2009
Get informed. ALL of her babies were implanted according to articles and her own mother''s statements. ALL used the same donor and it was not the man the girl was married to. She is a single mom, with all kids conceived through IVF and now she has 8 more, to go home to a 2 bedroom home, where her dad is returning to Iraq and her mom is supposedly so mad, that she plans on leaving before the girl leaves the hospital. - Reply to this comment
- I think that all people should have as many children as they like. If they can feed, clothe and raise the children properly, it is none of our concern how many children people have. No one has all the facts in this story and their speculation is ridiculous. Using ethics principles to speculate is unrealistic. The media do their thing because people flock to it before having the whole story.

I keep reading this kind of comment. "Feed, clothe and educate without any public assistance" You all forgot "LOVE and give attention to."
without that little caveat, people feed kids they rape and abuse, they may clothe kids that they starve and put cigarettes out on, even more kids will suffer emotional and physical abuse, but will still get food, clothing and get sent to school.
If the criteria for who will raise a child just centers on the material--don''t have kids--as for this woman; she appears unable to provide the necessities (though she may have love for them--attention? Quality of life?) They should be put up for adoption and she should be sent into a mental health unit for evaluation. - Reply to this comment
- How come no one is griping about Michelle Obama being pregnant @ 45? It seems that the President himself is not too concerned with his carbon footprint.
Posted by djeanne3 at 05:57 PM : Jan 30, 2009
????? 3 kids with a job making over 200K a year and a net worth of several million with all benefits paid for, with 2 homes, one of which has 18 bathrooms (the White House) vs 14 kids with no job (full time student working on her masters) no husband and a filed bankruptcy with no known income and all kids being raised in a 2 bedroom home in California, where grandma already has said she will be "gone" by the time her daughter leaves the hospital and with grandpa going back to Iraq (the most lucrative and safe market to make a living in).
now...YOU DO THE MATH and get back to us. Carbon footprint. LMAO - Reply to this comment
- The mother home schools the children. The older children help take care of the younger ones. I don''''t believe I''''ve ever seen a happier more well adjusted family anywhere. The children are all well behaved and respectful. This is simply a christian family that decided they would have as many children as God gave them. As long as they can support them, no one should have a problem with this.
Posted by djeanne3 at 05:20 PM : Jan 30, 2009
If mothers cannot care for their own brood, they should not have children. Children who have to take care of siblings actually miss out on being kids themselves--it shows up later on. Duggar mom should put a cork in it. Maybe if she was actually raising her own kids instead of relying on the other kids--she would have stopped popping them out by now. - Reply to this comment
- I have planned my life so that my children will have the best life they can get. In doing so, i risk not being able to get pregnant within 3 years and having complications or a down syndrome baby. I have done everything with a plan in mind, at great risk. Why am i not on the news recieving a lifetime supply of diapers and a minivan? oh because if i did then 20% of the country would have to, because they are doing the same thing i am doing, FAMILY PLANNING.
Posted by janie_super at 05:08 PM : Jan 30, 2009
I truly commend the hard choices and planning you made. But consider this--by the time your child is in highschool, you will look like a grandma compared to the other moms and by the time your child is the age you are now, you may well have died of old age and she will not have a mother. Genetically and physiologically, the ideal child bearing years are between 18 and 34. After that, there are increased risks but logistically speaking, women who have babies later often have a lot of material things, but physically are not in the best condition to provide their kids a great quality of life (not things but interaction). The body plans for a certain type of chronology and biology, but as usual, man and our society changes the rules--still--glad you are not a sponge like the idiot in this story. - Reply to this comment

mariagomez2= TROLL. So how many are biting today?
DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS.
You have only to look at the contradicting comments of this poster to realize she is just a troll and pulling your chains--probably not even an immigrant or an Obama supporter. LOL - Reply to this comment
- The youngest was born around 1907. Back then there were no methods of birth control except for the ''''rythym method.'''' Also, children were needed to work on the farms in most cases. And most of these farm families lived in houses with only 1 or 2 room and an outdoor toilet. Are we going to start saying that those people were horrible people too?
Posted by bkylws at 02:57 PM : Jan 30, 2009
No need because:
1. All of them should be dead by now
2. They were all created before the scam of Welfare so did not deliberately have kids to scam the system
3. In the time before antibiotics and rampant death from disease and other factors, most societies had a large amount of babies, just hoping some survived to maturity.
4. The Spanish influenza epidemic of 1917 helped already to equalize the overpopulation (almost 26 million died in America alone within 3 years) - Reply to this comment

The man going back to Irag is the GRANDFATHER, not the father, who has not stepped up in this "event".

Supposedly, there is no known father, just a sperm donor--they reported that this woman wanted to use up her remaining frozen embryos left over from when she had the other 6. - Reply to this comment
- Good Lord! Most dogs don''''t have a litter of 8! Get this woman to a doctor and tie, cut, sever those tubes.
Posted by aerodog at 01:34 PM : Jan 30, 2009
Not enough, burn the ends of those tubes, or better yet, just give her a hysterectomy. - Reply to this comment
- That''''s approx 150 million. Take out those below child bearing age. That leaves about 100 million total women in the united states of child bearing age. And you say that 45 million of those women are unwed mothers on welfare?
Sounds like you''''re pulling statistics out of your... a.r.s.e.
I don''''t doubt you have a point but without valid numbers you just look like a moron.
You said 45 million. S
Posted by Centerfall94 at 01:14 PM : Jan 30, 2009
Stats for 2008, show that less than 3 million people are on Welfare at this time, that is less than 1% of the population, also, there are less than 3 million people incarcerated at this time. When you want to complain about your tax dollars and welfare and who is in jail--look elsewhere--your money is leaving your pockets, but the majority is no longer going to welfare. Try Social Security, and a war based on lies. - Reply to this comment
- I just hope you don''''t teach your children (no matter how many of them you have) how to grow up and be racist rednecks
Posted by shockedcanuc at 01:03 PM : Jan 30, 2009
"racist rednecks"?!!! methinks you would do best to heed your own advice. LOL - Reply to this comment
- Not necessarily true, yes it remains to be determined but so far so good. I work at a hosptial, many preemies are born and grow up to do fine, including my sister.
Posted by pookergirl at 12:55 PM : Jan 30, 2009
Nurses have a nickname for preemies when they are born--"Million dollar babies" because often, that is how much they wind up costing in medical expenses their FIRST YEAR. Most insurance policies max out at a million dollars for anyone over a lifetime--so the question is--who paid for your sister, and who will pay the potential 8 million dollars for this *****? and I DO mean ***** as in an instinctual animal producing a litter. - Reply to this comment
- Now, if she wanted to adopt them out to people who desperately want a child, it would not be such a bad idea. A win/win for both parties.
Posted by pookergirl at 12:49 PM : Jan 30, 2009
If she was paid anything for the babies, it would be baby farming/child selling and it would be illegal. We don''t want poor people to become baby factories for the wealthy or the disinclined...and we don''t want women using the system to produce more offspring to sell like they are puppies. - Reply to this comment
- I didn''''t either. It is irresponsible to have that many children whether you have debt or not. Who is parenting all of those Duggar children?
Posted by tink1821 at 12:55 PM : Jan 30, 2009
When you have that many (or at around 5 to 8) the older children actually begin to parent their siblings--"Mom" is just too busy fvcking and having more babies to spend a lot of time with each child. WAtch the Duggars and you will see the older kids taking a lot of responsibility--Mom may not even remember each of their names. It happens. A lot of my extended family were large and they tell stories about never having a childhood due to them always having to care for their mother''s growing brood. - Reply to this comment
- That includes scientists and doctors who are absolutely amoral and will do anything. Maybe the docs are getting a "cut" of the profits. This is no joke. We get sanitized information about the state; thank God for CBS for getting the real story about this family''''s bankruptcy. The FBI should keep an eye on these people. Horrible things like baby selling and child slavery exist. There are agencies (including UNICEF; there''''s even an MTV website) that deal with human trafficking. Let''''s all try to do something about it by making sure our lawmakers are persistent in seeking justice for all, including innocent children.
Posted by t7884 at 12:34 PM : Jan 30, 2009
If there is "baby selling" here, it won''t be for adoption. These kinds of births rarely produce normal, viable children. I hate to say it, but if they are being created to sell, it would probably be for experimentation not for families to adopt or even make slaves of--after all, most will have moderate to severe handicap issues for the rest of their lives. - Reply to this comment
