She and her family should have been home in Mexico, we need laws to keep these people from becoming citizens here.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

The Government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.

IF having as many kids as you want is a "right" and a "gift from god" then im going to go get knocked up every single year and in order to feed my kids, im going to move in with this octuplet woman, cause afterall, we both love children, and how could she possibly say no?

if you have kids you cannot feed, you are either abusing your kids by letting them starve, or you are stealing from someone else. and neither one should be commendable. yes its THAT simple.

At some point people need to stop having so many children. The Earth can only support so many people and we are already at twice the compacity. Don''t ask me how this could be accomplished as it will be rather difficult to tell people to not have children, especially the religious types that won''t use birth control. Oh well, at 33 it won''t affect me to much but I feel sorry for future generations.

Janie...my post stated that I was not lucky enough to stay home and have as many children as I liked. That was in response to one that stated no one should tell her how many kids she could have. And I replied that I didn''t care how many kids one had, as long as I didn''t have to pay for them. I could only afford one child without going on welfare. So I am appalled about this entire IVF Topic. And I would like to know if this woman was a citizen.

janie_super you are super! Every word you write is from the heart and true. Giving birth and raising children is NOT, I REPEAT, NOT an inalienable right!!!

wheafield, if you can afford your kids and give them a stable home, without welfare, have as many as you like, by all means. I also have NO problems with IVF if it results in no more than two children. kids should be born to couples who want them and love them. This octuplet situation is absurd, it is unethical, and the mother does not support herself, her parents cannot support themselves either. Illegal immigrants coming to the USA to have kids on welfare is ABSURD.

Well, I can see everyone having as many children as they like if I don''t have to pay for them. I only could afford 1 child to raise and educate. I envy those who had better circumstances. I never received a dime from the public, no unemployment, and paid my bills on time all my life. I never had to claim bankruptcy. I also bought a home and lived within my meager income. I may never get to retire after working 41 years non-stop, as I must not only support myself, but need to support millions of other families with my tax dollars. If I had that portion of my tax dollars that enabled thousands, millions to stay home and keep having babies while on welfare, I might be retired now. I don''t mind one or two, but the government just keeps reaching into the taxpayers pockets, no limits, without trying to remedy this outrageous practice.

yes i do agree with you janie_super, when i wrote my original blog i didn''t see the story about the bankruptcy. i just know how it is being the mom of several children my oldest is 8, my second preg. was sapost to be multipules but i lost 2 of them but i have a happy heathy son which helped ease the pain of the loss. i agree that this definatly was not natural conseption and unfortunatly they will probably be adding 14 more to the long list of welfare recipients, but i don''t think california paid for invetro they probably paid for the birth. i didn''t relize they r not paying there own bills

channan4, they filed for bankruptcy 18 months ago. that means she got pregnant 9 months after they filed for bankruptcy. was this part of the plan to get court protection from their debts so they could raise more kids? or was this an accidental pregnancy. not accidental, intentional. dont you think it is irresponsible to take on one more childe let alone 8 in a household that could not pay their bills? how are they going to feed all these kids? their history suggests they cannot, it suggests they are going to ask for public assistance, even if the grandfather went back to work, KEYWORD GRANDFATHER.. THEREFORE PUSHING 50 years old. what does the future look like for these kids? welfare, thats what.

also i will have as many children as i would like and it is not irresponcible especially if my husband works to support our family! we don''t have millions but we have and our kids have what they need to let you know all our children were planned except the last and that was a result of the birth controll patch failure, we are going to go with minera this time but we want one more just not now, another birth controll failure will result in my husband being fixed cus presently our plate is very full and very happy.

With more than 6 BILLION THAT IS BILLIONS WITH A "B" AND ON AVERAGE MORE THAN 500 LIVE BIRTHS PER MINUTE ON OUR EARTH, WHEN IS ENOUGH ENOUGH? And the religious pro-life fruit cakes are worried about a few thousand abortions? In the time it took me to post on this blog 250 more human beings arrived for this planet to support!!!! THIS WOMAN AND 14 CHILDREN, HER LITTER, ABSOLUTE INSANITY!!! And the physician who implanted these embryos! What in the wide world of sports was he thinking about?

"Free health care" does not cover fertility treatments, so some people need to find something else to complain about and relize they need a life of their own and quit bashing on this obviously happy family in their time of joy!

Out of curiosity, how do you know that "free health care" does not cover the treatments?

channan4, one child is enough, two is two too many, and more than three is totally, undeniably, irresponsible!!! Do we want the United States of America to look like the continent of Africa? This Earth is in no short supply of human beings with more than 6 billion and counting. What do we want an Easter Island scenario on this planet? Human beings are the stupidest animal on the planet without a doubt!

even if she didnt have 6 other kids, i DO NOT CONDONE FERTILITY TREATMENTS TO CARRY OCTUPLETS. This is medically irresponsible and i believe it is unethical. the Human body is not designed to carry that many children naturally. what she has done is artificial, it is unnatural, and therefore against natures rules. she has put all her children at risk for health problems and a poor quality of life.

The mother is a very able lady and can take care of these kids, every one of them. The family has the financial ability to do the same.

Have you not been paying attention? This family just filed for bankruptcy so they obviously don''t have the money to support 14 kids! Plus, I don''t know any mother who can take care of 14 children under the age of 8 and give each one the attention and care they deserve.
