Ummm... no one said it doesn''t exist. It clearly does; as there are a number of people who will vote for the candidate of their choice simply because they are black and white.
However, there are far worse things than racism, and the sorts of passes that the media have given to various blatant examples of "direct action" thuggery by Obama Supporters is pretty staggering. When it is mentioned in the press, it''s along the same lines as the MSM white wash of Ayers and his wife: they point out that the weather underground targeted the pentagon and government offices; they neglect to mention that they also tried to murder children.

- dagrandma: No, I made no such assumption...but your earlier posting of "Key Republican phrases" prompted my comments. Appears we have a similar background....I too grew up in the deep south in the 50''s. My work introduced me to all cultures and the chanlleges related to it...so, while I know there are "lots" of racist out there...I don''t assume that anything that is said about a black is a racist statement. John McCain was not my choice to be the republican rep...but, when I honestly compare the two options...I''m left with one choice and that''s McCain. And, no it''s not because Obama is black...there are a number of blacks that I''d vote for tomorrow if they were on the ticket. One last thing...don''t ever assume that all the racist are white...there are a number of blacks among the top racist I have known in my life.... (yeah, I know some say a black by definition can''t be racist...but, that''s BS)

- i find it interesting that people keep trying to push racism back under the rug because it makes them uncomfortable.

- whosaid1: I think you''re assuming I''m black. I''m not. I grew up in an area that was a stronghold for the KKK in the 1950s and 1960s. I see the monkey in this particular story and I see the various "facts" spouted about Senator Obama as the very same type of thing I grew up with. Consequently, I believe that what it really is masking is the fact that they don''t want to vote for a black man.

- dagrandma: it''s obvious that you''ve gone through life seeing a racist behind every tree...any concern voiced about Obama is racially motivated in your mind...

- Where are the CBS stories about Republican Campaign offices being firebombed and vandalized?
Where are the CBS stories about hecklers wearing "Sarah Palin is a c*nt" shirts?
Where are the CBS stories about Obama Supporters burning down McCain Campaign signs?
I find it ironic that CBS can find examples of distasteful but non violent "rage" by republicans while ignoring the violent and criminal intimidation by Obama Supporters across the country. - Reply to this comment

- Colt8881, You might want to try real news/political sources--not SNL, Leno or Letterman!

- Nikokola: I''ll bet your parents taught you that it was not "right" to mock anyone for any reason. Your slightly twisted logic for justifying why it is ok to call a man who has an MBA from Harvard stupid and then come un-glued about an idiot with a monkey is..a strange thought process. You should remember what your parents taught you....

- I live in Johnstown Pennsylvania and was shocked to see such *** on the web. Unfortunately, I wasn''t surprised. It just goes to show the "small town" mentality that goes on here. Too much interbreeding I guess!

- Why am I not surprised? If your reading this, your racist from Johnstown, PA...You make me embarrased to live in Pennsylvania. Are you proud of your self? Is this the kind of bigotry and racism you teach your children and grandchildren? How about the little boy you gave the monkey to? Is that what you hope to teach the youth of today. Wipe that racist smirk off your face, ok? It''s no laughing matter you punk.

- Maybe it''s best to have the racism out in the open. That way we can get down to the real issue, the economy and McCain''s part in causing this economic meltdown. McCain has to somehow make folks like me forget that he and those around him were the ones who helped cause the economic meltdown in the first place. He has surrounded himself with lobbyists like Rick Davis who got millions from Fannie and Freddie. McCain and his next Secretary of the Treasury Phil Gramm voted for and promoted the very deregulation which led to all this. His advisers (like Carly Fiorina) got huge golden parachutes for laying people off work. While people were losing jobs, homes, pensions, health care, retirement funds (2 Trillion in the last two weeks), and while ordinary people were paying the highest inflation in 27 years, the rich kept getting richer, all because of the "deregulate at any cost" philosophy. Bush-Cheney, McCain-Gramm forgot a basic fact. The Middle Class working people are the backbone of this country. When you encourage corporations to become more profitable (temporarily) by laying off half their workers, you are encouraging eventual economic downfall. That''s what McCain-Gramm, Bush-Cheney did. I''ll never forget Bush''s "compassionate conservatistm." It turned out to be compassion for the rich and shaft the poor. No matter what he says or claims, I would expect more of the same from John McCain.

That''s OK. That what McCain calls his second wife in public, so it must be a compliment. - Reply to this comment

- This is for all the tender hearted Obama folks so quick to feign outrage at insults hurled by so-called McCain supporters....
This is a photo of 4 Obama folks wearing tshirts that read, ''Sarah Palin is a Cu*t''. That''s the slur equivalent of calling Obama the n-word. Also, note that there were also people at the Obama rally carrying signs saying that Bristol should have aborted her baby. Go ahead, Obama backers, defend that and continue crying about someone calling Obama a terrorist. Hypocrisy much? - Reply to this comment
