Here's hoping Mother of Hoss got to squeeze the hand of Hoss' father during every contraction. On second thought, since she did give to the equivalent of a 2 ft. long, 16 lb holiday ham, maybe she should've squeezed the father's ... never mind.

Congratulations, Mama! I had a little boy who weighed 11.10, and no gestational diabetes. He's still a big boy, but that's genetic. And even though this baby is 16lbs, he's still a newborn. Enjoy your new blessing.

My First Baby was a Boy, 9lb 3oz, 2nd a Girl, 8lb 11oz and the 3rd was a girl 10lb 5oz all natural Births and might i say yes it was OUCH. I did not have Gestational Diabetes with any of my Pregnancies and non of the Children have any form of Diabetes. I am not a big person either, 5ft 8in and very slim, i was also a strict Vegetarian during the last 2 Pregnancies. Sometimes its just Genetics, their Father was 11 lb and his older Sister by 15mths was 10lb 2oz.

My sons were 9-8, 11-4, and 10-3. No C-sections, and I was tested for gestational diabetes each time, and did not have it. My father and aunt were 12 and 14 pounds. It just runs in families, and I was able to reassure my daughter-in-law that it skipped a generation, lol.
