I see I'm in agreement with the majority tonight. We (the US) entered Afghanistan when the TALIBAN refused to turn over someone they had granted ASYLUM. That says it all. All of you who hold dear that value of "NEVER RETREAT" need to get a grip. BIN LADEN is still free as a bird (making tapes and home movies), and the TALIBAN will regain power the minute US troops withdraw. This war effort is a waste of resources and human life. End it now.

If Obama wants to win this war then he must give the ground commanders whatever they ask for . . . If he doesn't then he should get the hell out before any more of our brave soldiers die in vain. You can't just sit on the fence when young lives are at stake. Simply, Obama must fish or cut bait and do it immediately.

Colombia has been fighting drug cartel for more than 40 years. We should train the Afghans to do the same and get out of that hell.

The Taliban is now no more than a drug cartel.

The women of that country will suffer if we fail.
Freedom will be a joke and they'll start the beheading s.
The drug trade will flourish and it has increased since our involvement.
Our vital interests in the vicinity make it inportant we don't fail in
Afghanistan.

I do need clarification what the General means by Victory then, if he states what failure is.

I can say it because it makes sense. A ground war in Afganistan is just a joke.

Period of 1826 to 1919 is usually termed the period of European influence. This phase witnessed the conflict between the expanding British and Russian empires. The rivalry culminated in two Anglo-Afghan wars. The British succeeded in putting their puppets on Afghan throne. However, Amanullah Khan tried to break free of British control, triggering the third Anglo Afghan War. Both sides signed the Treaty of Rawalpindi in August 1919. In accordance with the treaty, the British agreed to leave control of Afghan foreign affairs.

This was followed by 9 years of confrontation between the Soviet troops and mujahideen rebels backed by the USA, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which were trying to protect their interests in the region. I can only say...I voted for him, but yet was chosen for this poll..imagine that. My views and thoughts of him have declined since he stepped into office. I can only hope the next 3 1/2 years go by quick. This man has no idea of what "military, soldiers, or war" is about. Why should my hard earned income pay for every American to have health insurance????? Get the hell of Welfare and work like the rest of us!!!!
