No one opts out or complains about basic medicare. Docs know the rules and provide great care. I have dealt with medicare and medicare claims for my mother, father, mother-in-law, father in-law. Less trouble than with Aetna or Blue Cross. Public non-profit option will pay docs and hospotals - not for glossy ads, high exec salaries and lobbists.

That's right. My elderly mother doesn't know what all the fuss is about. But she has Medicare, it covered her stage four colon cancer great and she is fine five years later.

I know that is true my wife is a doctor and she has no problem with medicare. But you listen to the reactionary party of America the far right wing nuts and they come up with nonsense. That is the problem medicare is far more cost effective and they have a much lower cost. Of course they don't have to pay a departing CEO 1.5 Billion (United Health Care) when he left.

The problem is: The government can't run ANYTHING efficiently, AND this is NOT the government's BUSINESS. This needs to be something that the private citizen's do for themselves with their helath care providers. We do NOT need the government taking the place of the insurers- telling us what care we can have and when we can get it!!!!!

What exactly is it that you in the Extreme Right do NOT understand about the phrase WE the PEOPLE? WE the PEOPLE want a Government Plan and IF Private Business can do a better job GREAT! NO ONE is going to be forced to go into the Public Plan it's a OPTION. Geeezzzz!!

Mogul7 sure explains your opinion. Insurance mogul, no doubt.

it would be so easy if the healthcare providers were not all just trying to make money and tell Americans what they can or can't do in order to get the benefits that they are paying for... and for the record, the last folks who were our "government" they were right, they couldn't and shouldn't have run anything except their own lives.

Incorrect. Medicare - to take an example that is exactly like the current issue - runs with immensely lower overhead than private medical insurance - lower costs, less overhead to executives and such. The government is in fact actually quite efficient - due to politicians swarming around looking for any wastage, so they can appear a hero by bringing it up.

Medicare runs for less cost and less overhead??? Well, I guess that is true... Anyone who has actually had to deal with Medicare or Medicaid knows how they do that too! By not paying a reasonable price for services. Why do you think Medicare patients get refused service by certain Dr.s??? They don't make any money!!! Medicare doesn't pay their fair share, period. This causes everyone else to have to pay more for their healthcare. It isn't the insurance compainies that are causing costs to rise, it's the government. To top it off though, the government programs are still broke, even though they get services at less cost than everyone else. Yeah, I can see the liberals point! Let's turn it all over to Obama and the government...
