President Obama is doing "OK" considering what was left on his plate.

At this point in Dubya's first term he was already planning his vacation to Crawford, TX while his chief terrorism head, Richard Clarke, was warning him of the Al-queda threat. He wasn't given the time of day because he was a Clinton hold-over.

President Obama should have taken it a little slower undoing our "go-it-alone" foreign policy. He has 4 years to do it. I give him 3 stars out of 5.

Since there will not be a Republi CON party much longer, it really doesn't matter what they think. They did their best to ruin the country and their party of death and spending is now obsolete.

I gotta hit the road. It was fun, Hungry.

And the best part is Jimmy Madison and Tommy Jefferson are laughing their butts off at you!!!

They're crying over your views.

Conservatives would either make the founders choke or cry with their bizarre POV.

And you sir do not know what forms of democracy there are. Just as there are different kinds of republics.

Now that I'm finally done laughing at you, maybe you can post that list of democracies that have failed, as "democracies always do" according to you.

Funny. The Gallup April survey has Obama's approval rating lower than George W. Bush's or Richard Nixon's after their first 100 days.i

Are you SERIOUSLY implying that the people of Rome VOTED for their own interests, and DID NOT have a senate elected to represent them?!?!?!

LOL!!!!!

You don't even know what the difference IS between a republic and a democracy!!!!

Okay, Okay...I bet Hungry would never catch me changing what Franklin said.. I reveresed the wolf and lambs to see if he would catch it.

Here is the real quote:

"True democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner"

AGAIN - I don't give a rat's assss about an out of context quote, twisted and presented like it supports your point of view.

(example)

Show me a good and gracious loser and I'll show you a failure. -- Knute Rockne

This is ironclad proof that conservatism is a failure!!!!

NOW do you see how stupid your out of context quoted posts look?

Hungry, I think you have alzheimers because I already answered your second question. Maybe you have short term memory loss!

And people vote in a "soft tyranny" or tyranny of the masses. The next step is that a few take charge and at first, direct the democracy. Later, they get the people to vote more and more power to them. Until they become despots.

The other way is that somewhere in that process, the minority takes up arms and chaos starts. And revolution.

As I have said before, I have a bachelors in political science (with a minor in history) and a Masters in this area also. I am currently working parttime on my doctorate. I dont make this stuff up...it is history. It is what these folks said. it is what has happened.

You want to argue with histtory?? Yo uwant to argue with James Madison:

"[D]emocracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."
Posted by mortar29 at 11:25 AM : Apr 28, 2009

One - you didn't answer my question.
You claimed to have lost liberties under the democrats.
I asked what liberties.
You said "property".
I asked "what property?"
You said "money".
I asked of you opposed paying taxes, and you said (emphatically) "NO!"
So NO, you DID NOT tell me what liberties and freedoms you lost because of the democrats.

TWO -- I don't care about your fake claims of education, anymore than I care about your fake business, or the fake "assets" that you "offshored.

AGAIN - name ONE democracy that became a dictatorship / tyrrany, because of the democratic voting process. Just ONE.

Why are you always on the opposite sides of facts and reality? Why are you always against the Founders?

Democracy ALWAYS, ALWAYS leads to despotism. Always! Tyranny is found and grows in democracies.

Power in a constitutional republic is found in the people. The politicians are limited by what the document says...and they can go no further. The States and the people retain the bulk of the powers and rights.

As usual, Hungry...you have it exactly backwards.

Well, the Founders were smarter than you. They understood history and even stated that democracy is the WORST form of government.

A constitutional republic keeps people from concentrating power. But the problem has been that we have begun to ignore the Constitution. Thus, a GOP leadership or Democrat leadership doesnt matter. They just ignore the thing and act like this is a democracy and do what they want to. No limitations.

Which has been my entire point. A democracy only leads us to chaos and then despotism. It isnt too late to turn back now. But, if we keep down this path, the country will break apart.
Posted by mortar29 at 11:03 AM : Apr 28, 2009

The constitutional republic concentrates power into the hands of the politicians, who in turn pass laws that are beneficial to big business and their lobbyists, who in turn donate money to the politicians to keep them in office, and the whole cycle starts over.

If that isn't the very definition of the concentration of power, I don't know what is.

A democracy, (or at the very least the power of recall elections), would eliminate this.

Actually the REAL problem is that we have let greedy multi-national corporations take over the government, the media and the military. The difference is the Republi CONS like that and the Dems, even though they are owned by the corporations at least talk about helping the people.

How many times do I have to post this? My God, I know you have trouble reading whole paragraphs...but here is one tiny word...no.

Do you understand that word?
Posted by mortar29 at 10:56 AM : Apr 28, 2009

So you don't like the fact that you have to pay taxes, and because you DO pay taxes, you think that you're having freedom and liberties stripped away, and because the democrats are in charge, you think that THEY are stripping away you freedoms and liberties, because you pay taxes.

Correct?

Wow...you made it so easy for me to show yo uare wrong. So, you advocate what is called a democracy. Here's what the Founders actually said about what yo uare advocating...

Posted by mortar29 at 10:51 AM : Apr 28, 2009

I think that we SHOULD have a democracy, but that IS NOT how the founders set this country up.

They set the country up as a republic, but I don't think they ever foresaw the leaders of this country hijacking as bad as they have for their own personal interests.

It's unfortunate that you don't know what the difference is.

Most of the polls are not of Likely voters. Real Clear Politics proves my point. Only Rassmusen using Likely voters. Yes your correct about the polls it depends on how the question is phrased. But when all you hear in the media are the polls that show record highs for Obama makes you wonder what is there agenda. They are not supposed to be bias.
