CBS News Survey Finds Americans - Including Some McCain Voters - Pleased With Election, Optimistic About Next Four Years
- Yeah, they died for the cause of disarming Iraq of the WMDs that were never found because we made a huge mistake thinking that WMDs(nuclear) ever existed in Iraq. So since we lost so many lives in our misguided attempt to disarm Iraq, we should stay in Iraq indefinitely, all the while losing even more American lives, to save face....now how dumb does that argument sound???

- No matter WHAT the total, it will be too high. Here''''s the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan: invading Iraq was a huge mistake and a complete waste of lives and limbs. The trouble spot is Afghanistan. It has been for years, and everyone knew it even when Bush chose to focus on Iraq.

Did you see that while everyone was focused on the $700 billion Bailout the Treasury Dept. dropped Section 382 of the IRS code and now banks are out of paying about $140 billion in taxes... - Reply to this comment
- In one word: Yes. (It will take decades to undo all the damage that Bush-Cheney have done.)

Why so divisive? Don''t you believe in the "new" politics of Obama? Work together, put aside differences? Praise Obama - Reply to this comment

- So will we be exchanging one Presidential Puppet for another? Or will this one at least try to start saving the Middle Class before some whack-job idiot or Congress stops him?
So, does this article mean 63 percent of the US LIKES Goldman-Sachs and the rest of the TOP financial PIRATES OWNING this nation?
Empty words will NOT stop the "hostile takeover" by those that have set themselves up to turn the people of the US into controlled financial slaves for the next few generations.
Welcome to the NEW "company store" that you will "OWE YOUR SOUL" to.
WHAT''S with the "NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" attitude toward letting the TAXPAYERS KNOW WHO''S getting the TRILLIONS of OUR TAX DOLLARS???
Does Paulson''s MASTERS - Goldman-Sachs OWN the US now too??
China at least is sounding MORE like a Democracy - they''re announcing where THEY are spending their "stimulus plan" and it''s on INFRASTRUCTURE and their PEOPLE! NOT the SLIMY ELITE PIRATES that CAUSED THIS MESS!!
But the US is REWARDING PIRATES,BANKRUPTING the people to do it and the FINANCIAL PIRATES are LAUGHING and THUMBING THEIR NOSES at the GULLIBLE CITIZENS of the US.
Next up:

- For some reason, Republicans and math don''''t seem to mix. If they don''''t like a number, they just ignore it. Take for example: the poll numbers before the election, the federal deficit under George Bush, Bush''''s approval rating, the total number of young Americans now dead or maimed from the war in Iraq, the number of Republican congressmen forced to resign in disgrace, and lastly but not least the number of days left before George Bush and D. Cheney are evicted. (It''''s now 69 --- how appropriate.......)

Will the previous adminstration be blamed for all the troubles in four years also. I surely hope this administration looks forward with their planning and execution rather than driving home the point that it is all the Bush administration fault. - Reply to this comment
- Optimism is high when -
- Businesses are asking the government for bailouts
- People are selling stocks at record pace

- In 1952, CBS made computer history by being the first to use a computer, the UNIVAC I, to forecast the U.S. presidential election.
And they have been trying to update to UNIVAC 1.1 ever since. - Reply to this comment
- We shouldnt just look at the polls. Obama received 53% of the popular vote and won twice as many electorial votes than McCain. Obama dominated election night against the GOP, even flipping 8 once red states to blue. Given those facts, its easy to see why more American are optimistic about our future. Obama will be a great president.

As far as getting this country back on track, I would sincerely believe that HOPE and PRAYER are not courses of action.
The rhetoric (election) is done and now is the time to take ACTION. DEEEDS NOT WORDS - Reply to this comment
- I dont see how they can be optimistic, McCain lost. I think this poll was taken before the election.
