- Apparently, GetREal Tex, you get your (mis)information from the same cesspool that brought us all the other outrageous, paranoid, stupid viral e-mails. CRA was indeed passed in 1977, to stop redlining--throwing out loan apps because of their zip codes. Have you read the act?
It requires banks only to approve loans "according to sound banking policies." And banks did so until "sound banking policies" were relaxed so that investment bankers found a way to make billions of dollars on these loans. Believe me, they weren''t interested in putting low-income families into housing until there was a way for them to make billions and retire.
