CBS News/New York Times Poll Taken During Period Of Grim Financial News Shows Continuing Pessimism About Condition Of Economy
- Just the facts:
The act that deregulated the financial services industry was the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Harry Reid, Senator Biden and 88 other Senators voted to approve it, and President Clinton signed it into law.
Senator James Leach (the Leach named in the Act), is now head of Republicans for Obama and spoke at the Democratic Convention. - Reply to this comment
- Yes, but I have read that a deregulation bill that was written by Phil Gramm was signed by Clinton. But somebody should have seen this coming, even the Democrats. And Gramm is one of McCain''s biggest advisers.

Another nightmare on Wall Street: Dow down 450
Sep 17, 5:54 PM (ET)
By ELLEN SIMON
NEW YORK (AP) - The stock market took another nosedive Wednesday as the American banking system appeared even shakier and investors worried that the financial crisis is spinning so far out of control that even government rescues can''''t stop it.
The Dow Jones industrial average, which only two days earlier had suffered its steepest drop since the days after the Sept. 11 attacks, lost another 450 points. About $700 billion in investments vanished. - Reply to this comment
- And I think they are all to blame for this financial mess, beginning with Phil Gram and Bill Clinton and continuing up to the current Congress and Administration.

- So I hear palin will be on Sean Hannity''s show soon. My guess is not a single questions about issues facing americans in this country.
Excerpt from the interview:
Hannity: So you like to hunt Moose?
Palin: Sure do
Hannity: Well that sounds like VP material to me!
Palin: I told congress thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere.
Hannity: Wow, you inspire me
Palin: Barack Obama wants to raise taxes
Hannity: And he''s a muslim, whoops I mean some claim he''s a muslim.
Palin: I shoot guns too!
Hannity: Well then you''re obviously qualified to be Vice president!
===========================================
She wont go on NBC because she knows they will eat her alive asking her about the issues and how she and mcsame plan on fixing them so she''s gonna go get slow pitched by hannity. God, this lady is so scared to be asked the tough questions it''s funny. Wouldn''t want another "Bush Doctrine" incident to happen again eh Sarah? - Reply to this comment
- RE: "....Does not make your information any more factually accurate then ours."
Yes, citing sources with verifiable documentation does make it more accurate. This is what separates FACTS from OPINION or conjecture or LIES. Yes, you need to do research to ensure your sources are credible too. But stating things with no documentation can be LIES just as easily as it can be truth. This is very basic education. - Reply to this comment

- If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you''''re a Christian.
If you have been married to the same woman with whom
you''''ve been wed to for 19 years and raising two beautiful daughters
with, you''''re ''''risky''''.

And you call massive bank failures, a collapsed economy, massive foreclosures and a stock market that drops nearly a thousand points in less than a week "a basically sound economy".
Time to face it. The republicans have failed at EVERYTHING so badly that they get excited by a beauty queen contestant from Alaska. I guess everything looks glamorous when you''re standing in the sewer. - Reply to this comment
- But John McCain says that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong", and that "we are a nation of whiners" when it comes to the economy!

I would hope not. I heard a quote that is relevant here.
Expecting a different result from doing the same thing is insane.
Obviously electing McCain-Palin would be insane if you are not happy with the direction the country is going.
Bush promised change when he was elected 8 years ago and look what has happened. A skyrocketing deficit and a recession just like the last several GOP administrations.
So lets ask the question! Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago? - Reply to this comment
- You keep saying that. So if I keep clicking my heels will you go back to Kansas?

- Arianna Huffington must be pissing her Socialist Liberal Elitist granny panties when it was reported that Hillary Clintons leading supporter Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, Katie couric, and millions of other women are now planning to vote for McCain/Palin!
But why is the liberal media still saying that women who supported Hillary won''t go for Palin? I am a Hillraiser woman and I am voting for McCain/Palin and millions more women will shift their vote too! Every woman I know is supporting for McCain even women, who like myself, have been Democrates all of our lives. Obama sucks and why is Michelle Obama HIDING? Barak probably told her to stay home with the kids like a woman should be doing. Obama is such a sexist pig! Why doesn''t Barak send his own brother who lives on $1 a month a little more money? Obviously he has no family values.
I heard that Obama refuses to release a list of his campaign advisors to the media even though he tries to attack McCain about having lobbyists for his camoaign managers. I found out that one of Obamas secret campaign advisors is none other than George Soros the Socialist market manipulator. I am trying to find out who the other "Secret Advisors" are to Obama - Reply to this comment
- Perhaps I am to naive to comment, but it sure seems to
me that, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
Most Americans that I know find themselves in a Country
where they are only a couple of paychecks away from
homelessness.
They also find themselves struggling just to keep up
with the ever increasing cost of doing business,
getting to work, getting the kids off to school,
food, clothing, shelter, utilities, health care.
Our cost have increased 3 fold, while our wages
remain at poverty levels.
Is tax relief the real answer?
Or are the RICH rich enough yet?
Where is the voice of the common American? - Reply to this comment
