How could McCain could say he was "honored and humbled" to have Bush"s endorsement?

Lets recap:

9/11 Terrorist attack..
The WORLD gets behind the USA to support whatever action, against those who caused this attack..

Bush declares WAR on the Taliban in Afghanistan..
Allies of the USA unite, and go into Afghanistan ready to kick some a**..

Bush declares WAR on Iraq..
The world allies question this decision, and are chastised by the Bush admin for doing so..

The world allies remove support in dismay at the decisions of the Americans to attack Iraq..
The US stands alone in Iraq...

Americans die in an unnecessary war in Iraq and the cause of the 9/11 terrorist attacks are lost in the minds of Americans........................

Can we say digress????? Just say it with me once....I found a whole new meaning......

Digressssss.......

Out in Cali there is a property owner memorializing every US service death in Iraq. Yes, there are literally 4000 crosses on their property. They represent to me the tragedy that can be the MIS-USE of our military. The Vietnam memorial means the same to some from that era. The WW2 memorials mark a time of unification of the world to bring down two empires-to-be.

What will the Iraqi war memorial look like?
How many names are going to be on it?
Will we obfuscate the reasons for the fallen for our own historical gratification?

JonGoode,

You have Jimmy Carter confused with Reagan. We never had unemployment above 6% during Carter''s Presidency; we had 9% unemployment under Reagan.

"Obama holds a nearly 40 point lead among Hispanics, a group he struggled to win over in his primary fight with Hillary Clinton. Despite losing among Hispanics in all but three states during the primaries, Obama leads McCain 62 percent to 23 percent among the group."

"I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.

I am not opposed to all wars. I''m opposed to dumb wars."
Barack Obama Oct. 2, 2002

Here''s how John McCain called it:

"But the point is that, one, we will win this conflict. We will win it easily." [MSNBC, 1/22/03]

"It%u2019s clear that the end is very much in sight." [ABC, 4/9/03]

Do Republicans still think John McCain was closer to the mark on Iraq?

Gee, Bush tax cuts have been so good for America that we now have the largest deficit in history, a high unemployment rate, record foreclosures, banks failing, the highest gas and food prices ever. What happened to Bush main reason for his tax cuts, that business would reinvest their tax savings into creating more jobs? Doesn''t seem like that worked too well, does it???

===================

It''s easily provable that G.W.''s tax cuts resulted in increase federal revenues. You know, more money coming in than there was prior to the tax cuts.

Now did Congress join this by cutting spending....No.

The unemployment you whine about is still less than half what it was under Jimah Carter.

Even after "Chicken Little" Chucky Schumer caused one of the largest banks in California to fail due to his constant partisan whine about the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

Gas prices have shot up along with food prices in just the past 6-8 months the likes of which we hadn''t experienced in the whole 20 years prior to the Democrats regaining contol of Congress and declaring there will be no new domestic oil production in America so long as they are in charge.

Can we only imagine where America would be today if it weren''t for G.W.''s tax cuts.

Interesting, they said the same thing about a young Irish Catholic man with a Boston accent in the 60''''s. And we ended up with one of the best and most inspiring leaders this country and the world has ever seen.....

Democrats = 9% congressional approval rating. The lowest in American history (at least since they''ve been keeping records.)

You bedwetting lib whiners would do well to remember that as you''re whining about ''republican incompetence." :)

JonGoode65,

You''re the one who needs remedial education. A temporary tax cut cut which runs its course and is not renewed is not a tax increase.

It''s a sunset provision. The original rationale for giving a tax cut to the wealthy but not to the middle class was that it would spur economic growth. It''s quite obvious that it did not serve that purpose so there''s no legitimate argument for its renewal.

A permanent tax cut for the middle class(as opposed to a one time stimulus check) is more likely to spur economic growth simply because more of the public will be effected and those that will are more likely to need to spend it.

The argument that the wealthy need more cash to creat jobs is bull because those jobs won''t be created if there''s no consumer demand for what is produced. That requires consumer spending and when the consumers create demand there won''t be any problem finding entreprenuers to fill that demand.

John McCain made this odious joke about Chelsea Clinton back in %u201898.

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."

%u2013 Sen. John McCain, speaking to a Republican dinner, June 1998.

The truth is, McCain stepped off the straight talk express and sold his soul to the Bushites the day he conceded to GW in the primaries way back in 2000. You might be on to something though: I wonder if Bush confuses Shiites with Sunnis? He certainly doesn''t need Joe Lieberman there to help him remember such things like McCain.

By the way, how can you be a true conservative and vote for this man? He''s all about "nation building", and he''s supported an economic policy that has run our dollar and country into the dirt for the past 8 years. He thinks Uncle Sam has the right to tell you whom you can and cannot marry. Those aren''t conservative values. Then again, he is tooling around with Joe Lieberman, so how conservative can he be?

True conservatives better stick with Bob Barr this year.

In RE: to comments made about McCain & Computers:

McCain''s job in the U.S. Senate--where all communication and information has to be filtered through staffers--has actually made fluency more difficult to achieve (or at least less necessary). When aides are responding to your messages and briefing you on every imaginable subject, the incentive to get online sort of disappears. Secondly, even if McCain had spent some time surfing the Web over the last decade, it''s highly unlikely that he would''ve amassed enough technological expertise to single-handedly craft appropriate public policy responses to the "upheavals"What''s more, there''s no computer in the Oval Office, and the president can''t surf in the Executive Residence, either. McCain or Obama would certainly follow suit. Meaning that the 3:00 a.m. call would arrive by telephone, not email. And something tells me the senator knows how to operate one of those.

Republicans = a stunning lack of competency.

McCain''s Small-Business Bunk
He claims 23 million small-business owners would pay higher tax rates under Obama. He''s wrong. The vast majority would see no change, and many would get a cut.

Actually that is a lie...The Bush tax cuts will expire and Obama will let most of them.

===================

You me the liar??

Allowing tax cuts to expire is in reality new taxation. Where did you go to school, on that big island a bit south of Key West??

Or, do you assume that all money belongs to the government and tax cuts are just them giving you some of it??

This does seem to be a common thread of thought among all you hyphenated-Americans.
