patriot12436,

I think in the end, you have to answer to yourself. You have to take a long hard look and realise whether what you have done has impacted on people''s lives and thought processes. I''m not talking about becoming president, I''m talking about that small circle of friends and family that surround you. If you can hold your head up with them, then anything else that is accomplished is a bonus.

Bush is making a profit by spreading it around to those that help him. He is now filthy rich. I don''''t think he realizes he has no place to hide once he leaves office. I hope we get an administration that will go after him tooth and nail for what he has done to our country. Yes i am a retired sgt but my disability gives me a check equivalent to a one star general so financially i am very solvent. I feel sorry now for the people who have worked all their lives and are losing their jobsn homes, and life savings, thanks to bush.

I''m glad you are being taken care of as you deserve to be. I hope you also receive the recognition you earned from the community you live in as well.

This president is going down in history as one of, if not the worst ever. His entire problem has been that he lacks the knowledge, judgement and intelligence that is necessary to handle a group as right wing as his. He may have the exact same views as them, it is hard to tell, but he must be held responsible for this because the people elected him, not Cheney or Rumsfeld or the other profiteers. I always felt that Bush was a talking head for the rest of them because he lacks the background and understanding that would enable him to disagree, and even if he did, the money would have silenced that anyway.

Yes , noone chooses the life they are born ino, they just have to live it. Like an autistic child. I know they do not choose to be like that, but they go thru life with the lot they are given. My phylosophy is to do what i think i can accomplish and when it is time look back. If i can say i am happy with what i accomplished then it has been a good life. I teell my children when i am gone do not cry for me, be happy that i lived.

I agree totally. With all the scandals involving them over the years how can people fall for their spiel ?

Has anyone on here ever met a gay that chose to be gay ? I haven''''t. I really think it is something in their genetic makeup that causes them to be that way and they have no control over it. I cannot bring myself to condemm them for being gay. I have mellowed in my years and have a live and let live attitude.

I think we are on the same wavelength here my friend. Why would anyone choose to be a part of a community that has and continues to receive so much scorn and outright hatred from people that just refuse to accept others for who they are? Being gay is no different than if one has a choice to be black or white.

No offense taken. How does it sound patronizing. I am in a foreign culture and should show respect for their culture. I have become more openminded. I do not want a relationship with a gay but i have learned to respect them. They are also people.

patriot12436, I''m so sorry to hear about your condition. I hope veterans affairs is taking care of you as they should. Please tell me they are. It seems that your family could not possibly give any more in the service of your country. They are to be commended.

I agree that Bush should be put under investigation after his term is up and put up on the relevant charges. It makes me angry knowing that he shirked his national guard duties while brave men like yourself went over there and paid the ultimate price. The part that makes me the angriest in this situation is how, in the middle of all this death and misery in Iraq, people close to Bush are profiteering. It''s a absolute DISGRACE.

I think you had a smarter president than we have now. I am straight but i think if they choose a gay relationship it is their business. I feel the same way about religion, everyone has to choose what is right for them. Here in Thaliand they have what is known as lady boys. They are gay and dress like women, the lucky ones eventually get a *** change. They are very talented and a great bunch to be around at a bar. They have a fantastic sense of humor and will keep you rolling on the floor laughing. They are openly accepted in this culture.

My objection is when someone tries to force their views on me when i believe differently. I have no use for the tv evangelists because of all the scaldals they have had over the years. I think they are nothing bt scam artists. Ther is no way i would watch one of their programs. I find them to be hypocrites.

But with that in mind, I don''''t feel that forcing my views on others is right either. To the contrary... you should be free to choose your own path in life without a bunch of bedsheet sniffers trying to impose their narrow sense of social morality on you. Posted by sincityq

One of our great Canadian Prime Minister''s, Pierre Trudeau, when asked about this issue back in the seventies said, "the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation". It is not the government''s place to judge. People just want to be happy and I think we should encourage stable relationships.

who cares? why is this even an issue? two consenting adults want to get married. So, let them get married? what is the problem? why do some people think that the government should have a "hands off" approach, but, then want the government to get involved in personal relationships of Americans? by the way, we see what "hands off" philosophy does - just look at the horrendous failure of the past 8 years with bush.

I made my choice to serve. I was young and dumb and now i am paying the price for it. I was exposed to agent orange and became diabetic with stage I renal kidney failure. It is a matter of time until it kills me. My oldest son joined the rangers following me and was injured. He is also 100% disabled but completed law school second in his class. My youngest daughter joined the army to get her life straightened out and just returned from Iraq. She will also probably receive 100% disability for her service. They haven''t given her a diagnosis yet but i am hoping they can determine what is wrong and correct it. Her brother is getting ready to enlist in rangers against my advice and wishes, but he is grown so i have to accept his decision. I am proud of my service and of my childrens service but i do not bel;ieve we should have invadeed Iraq. I think bush did so just to get more rich than he was. I hope to see him tried for war crimes.
