--"Even Buffet was predicting a recession prior to 9-11 or the Iraq war and his prediction was long term that in 2013 the economy would slip into a depression similar to Great Depression and would not recover until at least 2025 based on variable factors."--

Do you have a citation or a link to that? Buffett tends to focus on inherent value, and consumer behavior to allocate assets. There really aren''t indictators to predict a depression so far down the line - maybe the national income disparity between us and our trade partners, but that doesn''t seem likely given that open markets also create increased opportunities for growth . . .

Maye Pepe LeFool is really French and sees an opportunity to get more multi-billion $ manufacturing contracts from McCain if he gets elected.

Hey, the Canadians were injecting themselves into the primaries before Ohio in a way that maximized their NAFTA benefits . . . it''s not beyond the pale to think the French wouldn''t see benefits in doing the same . . .

(JK - I just wanted to highlight the economic ramifications of LeFeaoux''s regurgitation of the Republican elite''s talking points of which he probably doesn''t personally benefit . . . )

One last word and that is Bush/Cheney along with 435 representives past and present belong behind bars for what they have done to our nation and this is just in the last 8 years excludes the media, corporations, hedge funds, investment banks etc. and this could be reverted back to 1978 including all representives and presidents since along with the media, corporations, hedge funds etc. but most people are to politically blind to see this.

Ubrew12 Up until 04 I considered myself a democrat, one that believed in the policys of JFK and Roosevelt that the common man was America and that was what the democratic party represented, then I started seeing the party as it is today. I gave them another chance in 06 and again voted a straight democratic ticket only to again be disappointed by their lies. Since they have regained control of congress they have accomplished nothing, impeachment was taken off of the table prior to the election and they have yet to fulfill on single campaign promise. I will vote for Nader in the fall as dry and uncharismatic as he is he still represents what the democratic party used to represent. They have sold their souls along with the republicans which in order to find a republican party to emulate as being for the people one has to go back to Eisenhower.

LeFeaoux has a point that is either not being understood because of political prejudices or a failure on his part to explain his position further on the war keeping the economy afloat.I have opposed the war in Iraq prior to its inception and still do on moral issues, however every economist was predicting a long recession prior to 9-11. Even Buffet was predicting a recession prior to 9-11 or the Iraq war and his prediction was long term that in 2013 the economy would slip into a depression similar to Great Depression and would not recover until at least 2025 based on variable factors. The war as immoral as it is has temporary restrained some of the impact but to take it further with the sub prime mortgages immersed into the economy what "gains" (and I hate to use this) from the war have been erased and now we are facing down the end of a double barrel shotgun with the war and the foolishness of the congress, presidents and the subprime mortgages.

Well gang, it''s been fun but time for me to go. Thank ALL OF YOU who responded to me for reinforcing what insufferable MORONS you all are. I would say "see ya in the revolution" but sadly, MOST of you pinheads won''t make it past the first day of it so ... go with God!

radiob said: "For all of those who still are foolish enough to believe that this is the result of one party take a look back about 30 years ago when we started the free trade agreements with vigor, who controlled congress, who was president?" I believe we have to trade, and trade agreements are part of that deal. But we don''t have to go broke. When you look at who made us go broke, you really have only ONE party to blame, and thats the party of Reagan and Bush. This credit crunch we''re in ultimately is the world community wondering if the U.S. can actually pay its many debts. They''re right to wonder. I know which party gifted its grandchildren with those debts, and I have NO INTENTION OF VOTING FOR THEM in the near future. Reagan and Bush bought re-election by cutting taxes (popular) and NOT cutting spending (UNpopular). Who pays? Why the kids of course! Don''t worry, they''ll love us for it!

LeFeaoux said: "A strong military is THE ONLY THING that has kept you safe in bed at night your whole life so, don''''''''t beat it up!"

This military could beat the Klingons. At $100 bill/yr, we can defend ourselves against invasion. At $250 bill/yr, we can project influence anywhere in the world. At $400 bill/yr, we can project influence in two places at once anywhere in the world. At $500 billion/yr, we''''re going broke trying to satisfy GW Bush''''s ego.

Stop at $250 bill/yr and take care of other priorities.

When WWII started, our military was smaller than Romania''''s. As I recall, we did alright in that war.

And you got these numbers WHERE??? NEXT!!!
